  • Weight plates; faceing in or out?

How do you guys load your weights? Face in, face out or doesn't matter.

This guy at the gym loaded a 45lb plate on the barbell for me. I work out by myself and I forget how many little quarks I have at the gym until someone helps me do something, like put some weight on the barbell for me. When I'm using free weights, I like the facing (the text) of the weight to face in and if someone else loads it facing out for me, it just screeches at me like fingernails down a chalkboard.

Hahaha I am the same way bro I always face it in. If someone puts it on facing outwards I always turn it around. It is just the way I am used to it! funny you mention that though!!

The weights at my gym have the numbers double sided so it doesn't matter. But I do like my weights to all be aligned properly. The weights have an octagon shape (I think) and I make sure all the corners line up exact.

Facing in for me. The ones I use have the ledge on the number side which is a great grip for the fingers.

yep, I think that's why most of us face them in, because the lip makes them easier to handle. Some have a handle in them but I still face them in. I like how they clang around a little as you rep them out.

Re: Weight plates; faceing in or out?

LMAO! Yeah, I don't like when people try to 'help' me except someone who has actually trained with me. I like the test facing in because the plates we have are easier to grab on and off that way. My biggest pet peave is people who can't spot. I typically use a very slow pace with my reps. So, these idiots will try to help me thinking I'm stuck when actually I've gota few reps left in me. It throws off my whole workout. Or, the guys who says "I didn't help much at all, it was all your" and yet I did 3 more reps than normal. The way I like to be spotted (on bench) is to just leave me alone and then help me through a couple forced reps by ONLY helping on the positive phase. Some guys want to help on the negative.....ummm.....that defeats the whole purpose of the negative. If I wanted to do lighter weight, I'd do drop sets. There's a couple guys that know how to spot but most are morons at my gym. You see them with their workout buddy and they practically do the last 4 or 5 reps for their buddy and can't figure out why they are still stuck on low weights.

The thing that cracks me up the most is the dude who will only use one type of plate. We have two different types of 45's and some dudes will take plates off the weight tree just to get to another one like the one they have on the bar. THEY WEIGHT THE SAME DUDE!!!! Maybe it's an OCD thing, but it makes no difference to me.
I used to have superhuman powers....until my therapist took them away.
