  • Buying a t.v. - Question

After I get out of these last few bills I got here in the next few weeks I'm looking to put down about 1,000 down on a t.v. and not looking to spend more than 1500 after that on payments, so ideally no more than 2500.

What t.v.'s would you recommend? I was thinking LCD but maybe plasma? Looking to get 42 - 50" w/ 1080p.

Also, how or what would i need to hook my computer up to the new t.v. and use that as the screen and not my computer monitor?

I love my 55" LCD Hitachi Ultravision.
Sony's XBR Series are tops as well.

Before you buy, browse online. My TV was $700 off the weekend I bought it. I would have never known either. They only had the 50" and 60" on display, and they were regular price. The guy that was working in the tv section of Circuit City didn't even know about the sale or that they had a 55". You can also get good info by reading the reviews online.
Also, there's a difference between Wally World's, Sears and Circuit City's versions of Sony and so on.

        I would recommend an LCD.
There is not a bit of difference in the technology of plasma vs LCD.....but if the t.v. is in your living room any sun light will glare on the plasma screen because its a glass screen...best buy has 18months interest free.

yes, make sure you don't get the reflective glass over the screen. Some companies put it over LCD and plasma. You'll run across the mirror technology, DLP also. I like LCD over DLP as obviously most people because it hasn't caught on. If the salesman trys to tell ya you can see the little squares with LCD, just get up close to the DLP and you can see the little mirrors at work also. I don't think the leaders, Sony, Hitachi, Phillips, etc, even offer DLP.

Buy an LCD. Plasmas have a history of problems. You may try joining consumerreports.com to research the best models of the last year (or the new year, whichever it is) and then just cancell when you are finished. I've done this a few times.

So you're looking to buy a T.V., huh? Well, best advice I can give when buying a transvestite is, no big adams apples. It gives them away at Holiday parties and stuff. And no 5 O'Clock shadow. People will know you're with a dude. Cool?

IMPO the best picture you can get is with a DLP flat screen made by Samsung. They make I think the best flat screen tv's out now. If you plan on putting the tv above the fire place do not get a plasma. The heat from fireplaces will interfere with the xenon and neon inside the glass tubes of the tv. Also the best times that I have found to buy the tv's are right before Christmas and all through the month of December.

oh yeah, and for the money you pay for a tv like that, you also get great sound as well. Transformers was awesome this weekend on the big 55.

Sony is probably the best choice.

I have a kick ass Sony sound system in my SUV that, believe it or not, is probably the main reason why I bought it.
