Anyone watch this show with Les Stroud?
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't do what he does. HOWEVER...... they hook the dude up before he is in the wilderness to "survive"! I seen the one show, where 2 medicines in his medicical kit were used to start a fire. He has a kit with fishing line in it. Dude was in the sahara, and had a freaking hot air balloon tank to ignite to scare the lions away!! He has a damn thermal protective blanket in his survival kit!! If you're in the wildreness, you don't have a survival kit!!
That other dude Bear, he's a survivor man!!

Yeah really. I'd rather see him survive for a shorter duration with absolutely nothing but the clothes on his back and the environment. I saw one where he showed how to recycle your pi$$....Of course you need a cup, and some saran wrap. I don't typically carry Saran wrap around with me.

Yeah, Bear goes out with only a kinfe sometimes but I've only seen one episode with the other guy where he doesn't have some kind of thing to help sustain a fire. Even the one with the seal blubber that he used to make a slow burning fire. Bear will from time to time have a flint, but he won't have a weapon. I seen one where he used a throwing stick to catch a rabbit. He's also a former British Special Forces guy, so you know he's a bad ass.

Bear is a wannabe. He got caught spending the night in hotels when he was filming his wilderness specials. He is an ass.

Les is a wealth of knowledge. You guys could learn from him. Also, you should always have a survival bag in your car.

In my survival bag I have a fire starting kit, a water purification kit, a shelter building kit, several ways to catch food, a few different methods of signalling help, and other odds and ends. It all fits in a back pack and I never leave home without it. It could save my life someday...or maybe yours.

Yes, but I thought the point of the show was to survive in the wild with nothing but the clothes on your back? Hell, I can fit a few Porterhouse steaks, some charcoal briquettes, a 9mm, and a few other things in a backpack. I can survive a week in the woods with that.

I like them both but I'd have to say I like ol' Les better. thing is, im not going to sprint down a scree slope or down climb a water fall, or jump in a freezing raging river. you sprain an ankle or jump in freezing water you're done. granted Bear is a professional, Les is like an everyday kinda dude and he'll sit and plan things out..Bear ? oh s#it, the sun is going down ! I better haul ass and sprint down this boulder strewn mountain side then jump in this raging gorge and find a town. Les'll kick it and make a lil camp then hunt for chow. most of us aren't professional soldiers or experienced mountaineers. I liked Les' idea bout having a broken arm, most folks are hurt or there may be multiple casualties to tend to...so Bear does a jump and fractures his leg ? or does a jump into east LA ? none the less I love both of those shows and watch them everytime I get the chance.

There used to be a really cool show called "Reel Wars" on HGTV. two Irish guys who get dumped off somewhere, then split up and have to catch fish for points and food for their survival. before they take off they get to chose gear to meet their needs, certain tackle, tarp or tent, cook stove. the more gear the more points taken off what they where given to begin with. granted when they get to a certain number of points at the end of the day they earn a lil prize a four pack of pounders, can of beans or a chocolate bar. was a really cool show not on anymore cept maby BBC in England.

I know that the point of the show is to show people how to survive with little to no supplies, but if you had the choice would you rather have my survival bag or your boyscout knife? LOL.
