TweetStarting Jan 1, 2005, all cell phone numbers will be made public to telemarketing firms. That means that Jan 1, cell phones will start ringing off the hook, but unlike your home phone, most of us pay for incoming calls. these telemarketers will eat up your free minutes and in the long run cost you money. Rumor is that this is a hoax because people can't believe that the FCC would do such a thing. Everyone must register by December 15th to be on the list for 2005.Originally posted at **** by Stout1

Let me clarify this for everyone. This is not a hoax. The FCC has allowed that the cellular numbers for all companies nationwide be released for public info (telemarketers) and there is also talk for a cellular phone book directory to be published broken down by markets/regions just as landline numbers are done. If you call the number that is published or go to the website it will block your number for 5 years from appearing on the list of numbers publicized. In the event that someone calls you after you have placed your number on the list, contact the FCC at https://www.fcc.gov/cgb/donotcall/ or 1-888-382-1222. They will then sue the company that called your phone on your behalf. This is unbelievable that they would do this to the billions of cellular customers in the U.S. but it is true.

One more thing, You can register at any time so YOU DO NOT have to flood them with calls or emails by December 15th (today). Also if you renew your contract,upgrade, or start new service your service provider can apply your number to the No Call list for you during the process.

TweetFu&*ing lawyers! Now I have to waste me time to put my number on a list. It should be the other way around. You sign up if you want to be called. Here's how I see it. If you got a good product I will find out on my own. If you want to have a good product, then market yourself like everyone else does.

The FCC, the IRS and the FDA are all useless. I don't trust any of them because they all have a bias position.

TweetI never once registered for any of that crap. Makes me feel like with my phone number listed, they WOULD give it out. Let them call me, it would show up as private or unavailable.

Most of now have a shit load of mintutes anyway, or incoming calls free.

Tweetoh don't get me started with that second agency u mentioned....not sure if u are 1099 as an appraiser...but man does that make tax time a bit of a different story than being a w2.....not to mention they charged me interest and a 3000 dollar fee cause THEY screwed up my return....

TweetNo, no 1099. I'm incorporated and you can't 1099 a corporation. It's basically a business expense for my clients. Just like office supplies. I have a CPA who does all my stuff every quarter. I print him off a copy of my Microsoft Money numbers for the quarter and he takes care of the rest. Then he sends me the stuff and I send the check. This way I don't get hit with one huge bill at the begining of the year. By being a corporation I don't have to pay self employment taxes As a matter of fact I pay myself a small salary and my company takes most of the hit at 15%.

dude screw that mikey....my cell phone is a personal #.....and i don't want to see it ring unless there is gonna be someone on the other end i want to talk too....i give my number out for business sometimes but thats my business to do so....and because clients may call i have to answer cause i don't know all their #'s....this is an invasion of privacy if ya ask me

TweetThe thing is mike, say they call and you let it ring and ring. Then voicemail picks up, even if they don't leave a message most of them say hello like 3 times leaving you a voicemail filled with garbage or dead air. When the consumer wants to clear the messge it COST them minutes to check voicemails. Good idea but doesn't work for all cell customers.
