sciatic nerve pain down my left side?

So for about 2 months now I have had this shooting pain in my lower back, Glute, and leg that runs down past the knee. I have been seeing a Chiropractor about 3 times a week now. Still not getting better. I have been foam rolling, hitting pressure points with a tennis ball. That I found has helped more then after I go to the Chiro. So if anyone has any suggestions or have had the same kind of pain like this please shed some light on what I can do to help get rid of this? I know that Trigger-point massage therapy applies direct pressure to the piriformis muscle in the glutes, which lies right over top of the sciatic nerve. This massage works to loosen the muscle and alleviate the compression that causes pain, numbness, and tingling down the affected leg. Thinking of going for a deep tissue massage. Thoughts?

Roller, especially one with knobs, stretch, avoid sitting (this is what gets mine going), get a good balm...guns got me into arctic balm (it's g2g), massage def helps especially from a sports science masseuse

If it's a bulging disc or herniated look into steroid injections if the more conservative treatments do not work. I had herniated disc, injections did not work and eventually I needed surgery but I know plenty of people the injections did work and they have been fine since.

Look into getting an MRI. That way you can rule out a disc herniation. Maybe the chiropractor can write you a script for one.
Can also look up piriformis stretches on youtube and then stretch it every hour. Inversion tables have been found to help in many cases of this.

Sounds like you need to go to a doc and get some scans done. Could be a few things. Lower back or hip. Any groin pain? All things your are doing are helpful and even DT massage but that is a temp fix. If I were you I would head to a specialist. I have been down this road before and it was mostly from my hip which I did have surgery on. i still get it , but that is coming from my lumbar spine which I do occasionally get Epidural injections for. Dont know what you do for cardip but I would lay off any stairs, eliptical and definitily not sitting a long period of time

My girlfriend has the same problem from time to time , and I'm going to treat her with it to see if it helps .

I'll tell u what tho Baby , I've tried the VooDoo Floss on my elbow , at least a few times a week and it has helped pain and mobility !!!
I think that , combined with the elbow sleeve , have dramatically helped me get strength and healing back to my right elbow .
Yes , it still hurts , but NOWHERE near what it was a few weeks ago !!!
May be something that many of us can utilize in out recovery processes !!!

Thanks, No I have not tried VooDoo Floss. this is the first I am hearing about it. I hope your GF feels better soon. I will look into this for sure.

Hello Baby1, I am going to the Doc this Thursday to see if he wants to order an MRI. No pain in the groin area.Thank you for all of your advice and help. I will let you know what the Dr. says. Fingers crossed no surgery. I have had plenty of those.

What did the chiropractor do? 3 times a week for how long? did he show you how to stretch or was he one of those chiropractors that just cracks you and says I will see u back in 2 days? I have found that there are lots of different types of chiropractors. Some arent worth a shit and others are fantastic.

I have found that there are lots of different types of chiropractors. Some arent worth a shit and others are fantastic.

The Chiro gave me some good stretches to do at home or at the gym. He is a good Chiro, better then any of the other ones I have been to. He works with me and gives me lots of info on why and where the pain is coming from. He recommended that I get an MRI done. He is also a good friend of mine so I know he wont BS me. Thanks Dzone and I will keep you guys posted.

hey torres, he is having a sciatic nerve issue which is most likely from his lower back or glute area from what he is saying. so how in the crap is he going to floss low back or glute? not being smart but i am all ears on how to implement this cause i already use it for elbow knee and shoulders on a pretty regular basis. i am all about learning something new. now if it was ham driven you could floss your hams but i am clueless on anything for hip or lower back

Sorry , I should have been more accurate on what I was trying to say with the voodoo floss , and this is just with what is going on , or the pain that my girl feels . Her pain , or discomfort , is primarily in her right ham . What I have her do is wrap the floss around the ham and do simple squats and lunges to stretch and hopefully loosen up the nerve to create better motion . I apologize to Bazooka because I did not see that most of your pain is coming from your lower back . So yea , Guns is right . I read your post and it automatically brought me to what was bothering my girl . So in her case the Voodoo Floss would prob work better than your situation .
I should have elaborated more , my bad people !!!
But maybe , and this is just my thought , you could wrap the Voodoo Floss around your lower back and do some stretching exercises ???
It might work ??? I'm not sure , just a thought !!!
