      well i can tell you this from a personal observation dzone. i used to do 600g a day and keep my carbs relatively on the lower end. about 2 years ago after consulting with someone big in the game i was convinced to try a different approach. we went with 1g of protein per lb of lbm and then the rest of cals left over for my needs went to carbs and fats. i still gained consistently in the off season and when i transitioned over to leaning out, it was much smoother and less painful to come down to around 4%. so i am sold on the idea that their is no need for mega protein consumption any more, as long as you tolerate carbs and fats pretty well. my waist went down considerably but i can say i was quite a bit more hungry with such less food volume
