  • Help for my bro who can't seem to put n weight.

    Hey guys,

My workout partner is one of those guys who has a really hard time putting on weight. He's naturally lean at around 6% BF, and his eating isn't the problem. The guy puts away more food than me by a good amount.

I've tried everything I can think of. I put him on a "all fast food diet" which worked OK for the first week but he started feeling like crap the next week and that caused his eating to slack. I also had him eat a chocolate bar and a protein shake every night before bed for a month. Made little or no difference.

We started him out at 6' 3", 154lbs, 7% BF. 2 years and 2 cycles later he's at 175lbs, 6% BF. He's totally cut, veiny as hell, but just doesn't have the mass. And we've hit a brick wall. I can't seem to get him past 175 no matter what we try.

Any ideas? Is he just screwed genetically? Again, diet is not the problem. I really think I need to get his BF up a bit before his body will put on any more muscle. Anyone know of a "get fat quick" scheme that works?
RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.

Hindsight is always 20/20. But looking back it's still a bit fuzzy.

Maybe it could be the diet he's in! Hmm the amount of rest he gets and the training. Maybe he needs to train a little bit heavier. A buddy of mine really once never gained size cause he was always lifting the same amount of weight but when he hit heavier, he gained alot. Or it could be his gear, maybe fake. Those are the only reasons I know not to gain size.

About him being genetically screwed, roids may work differently for some people, some could gain alot and some could gain very little or nothing at all. Works different for people. Thats my opinion.

how about 3 or 4 shakes a day, with 2-3 tablespoons of flax or olive oil in each? the oil alone will be an extra 1-1.5k calories
thats what im doing and it doesnt really affect my appetite

btw gear, how old is ur buddy bro. If he's young under 18, he has a reason not to gain cause he's little as in body development and the inside(hormones).

shoot his carbs through the roof as well as his protein intake, he'll grow don't worry. Get his protein around 350grams per day with carbs at about 700grams per day. That alone without fat is 4200 calories. He'll have to eat all the time but something like this would work. What do the previous cycles look like.

He's 25 and yes, his metabolism is crazy.

I really don't think his training or gear is a problem either. We use the same gear and I'm still gaining nicely. I watch him train, and he's doing it as well as me if not better. He may even have a little more heart than me.. We do the exact same routine. Oh and he works hard, but gets lots of sleep. He's one of those people that can and will sleep 12hrs every night unless he's forced to wake up for something.

I've known him for about 12 years now. He's always been really tall and really skinny, yet he's always packed away the food. I weigh in at over 205 yet he out eats me at every meal. He's never really been into sports or all that active physically, yet I don't think he's ever been over 8% BF.

Even if it's 10lbs of pure fat, I'm sure it would help as then we could work on converting it to LBM.

Flax oil hey? That's a good idea. I'll see if I can talk him into trying it.

He works in construction, so he can't stop to eat every 1/2hr. He's only got his coffee breaks and lunch break.

Currently he's taking 2 shakes a day. But again, I don't think protein intake is the problem. Honestly I think the best thing for him would be an instant 10lb fat injection. Get him up to around 10% BF.

                  Thanks for the info bro..

Tho I swear if I tell him 1 more time "You gotta eat more" he's gonna go ape shit on me.

                  Good luck!

I can relate. I'm a hard gainer myself. 5'9" 235 lbs. here is a good recipe: eat whatever he wants, 200g of prot or more p/day, creatine 10-15g p day, only work out 3 days p week

suggest: 6 sets ea muscle group no more
                    break body into 4 parts
this way every thing gets plenty of rest
                    lots of intensity
juice like a mad man (cycle up and dn)

                      Thanks Scott.

I havn't limited his diet at all. I just tell him to eat as much as possible and try to get as many calories as possible. He eats pretty good on his own.

I have him working out 3 days a week.
                      Monday: Chest & Arms
                      Wed: Legs
                      Fri: Back & shoulders

Around 6 sets each muscle group.

Poor bastard is sensitive to gyno as well...

His job might be a contributing factor
cause in these ectomorphic types any kind of aerobics seems to ramp up the metabolism. So he^s just going to have to quit. jk LOL

Seriously, have him limit any aerobic-type activity he is doing.
As a former skinny person I know this from real-world experiene. When I first moved to the city I live in I had no car, so I had to walk everywhere. As soon as I got a car musta added 15 lbs.

Even that good stuff like A-drol and Sust doesn^t beef him up ?

Sust and Anadrol have helped. But like I said, once he hit 175 it's like we hit a brick wall.

He's a "tiler" so it's not really intensive work. I'll let him know about the cardio/aerobic stuff.

Reguardless of any diet or any gear this formula will always hold

To gain weight = More food eaten than burned

As much as it may suck for him if hes eating a ton, and how much he hates hearing you have to eat more...there is no way around it really.

Get rid of the protien shakes and add quality weightgainers. 2 shakes a day isnt that much. Make it at least 5. Morning, lunch break, after work, after lifting, and bed time. They dont fill you up much so have him eat like a pig on top of it. Throw in some ginger root if he cant handle the stomach bloat.

So what weight gainer shake would you guys reccomend. Hopefully I can find it in Canada.
