id watch out for weight gainers.. taking those for a long period of time can probably lower your insulin sensitivity, lots of high GI carbs in a drink makes for a big insulin spike. maybe if its only while on.
i agree with the pasta, especially vegetable pasta, very carb dense and at least its complex, even though the the GI is high for a complex carb. you get a surprising amount of cals in a plate of pasta.

Billy said pretty much what i was going to say.
Bottom line is if your not gaining weight, you arent eating enough. Maybe he cant eat enough for his crazy metabolizism in which case he needs to eat like a fatass. Triple burgers, all shakes add flax or peanut butter, ect. Tons of cal dense food. May not be best for adding only lean muscle but thats not the goal here. He needs to get more cals. Bottom line100% or Nothing

N Large it is! And I know I've seen this stuff around.
Is it possible that he has naturally low insulin levels and that's what's causing his problems instead of a high metabolism?
I mean, the guy acts normal.. get's lots of sleep. I'd expect him to be all hyperactive if his metabolism is that fast.RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.
Hindsight is always 20/20. But looking back it's still a bit fuzzy.

Just because he has a high metabolism doesnt mean that he should be hyper. Maybe the reason he isnt hyper is because he doesnt have the energy to be because hes not getting those calories. Just something to think about. Get those cals in. He can grow.100% or Nothing

GG, I too was stuck at 170 at one point of my life. This is what I did to put on 35lbs of good weight. I had no choice, I play football and at a top notch program 170 aint gonna cut it, u'll get ur head torn off, even if you run a 4.3. Anyways this is what I did with some bulking steriods. My bulking diet:
7:00am -- 50g of protein with 2 tablespoons of flax oil
10:00am -- same
12:30pm -- 50g of protein 75g of carbs with real food, i.e chicken, tuna, egg whites, with some sort of carbs.
3:30pm -- sames as 10:00
5:30pm -- (pre workout) meal replacement drink with carbs and proteins/ 2 tablespoons of flax.
6:30pm -- usually workout time
8:00pm -- (post workout) 50g of protein and 125g of dextrose with 1 tablespoon of flax.
9:15pm -- eat the same as protein/carbs as the post workout shake.
11:00pm -- bedtime shake just 50g of protein shake.
Total -- protein approx. 400g, carbs approx 400g (he can have more if he wants)
*I was on gear so I worked out very heavy, he needs to too.
*Sumplements -- ALA 1000-1500mg ED, Milk Thistle 1000mg ED, Animal Pak multi vit's. 3g of vit C. cranberry juice ED, Glucosomine/chondriton/MSM 1500/1200/1000 ED.
About four months after intense training, eating and taking sumplements including gear I tipped the scale at 205, and kept my SPEED which I was very worried about but did.
There you have it hope this helps........Let me know what u think.

with some ala, a weight gainer with oil mixed in would give you all the calories you need depending on how many shakes you have, along with 4 or 5 solid meals.

Hey GG,
Just another thought. Just because he trains with you doesnt mean what will work for you will work for him. Hardgainers often overtrain very easy. Just a thought, i have a great program that has worked for many of them hit me up if your interested. Ive also heard that suspension works well for hardgainers100% or Nothing

Thanks Hulk.
Never considered his workout may be the problem. He has made good gains, it's just all but stopped.
I try to keep him to my routine, but don't force anything on him. Usually we work out, do Cardio for 15min, then hit the hot tub or sauna. I stopped his Cardio and had him doing weight training while I was doing my Cardio. But am thinking now that it may be best for him to start bringing a premade shake or some food that he can eat while I'm doing Cardio instead of doing extra weight training.
Do any of you think Insulin post workout would help him much?RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.

GG?
Good idea to have him stop the cardio. Yes a shake as soon as HE gets done would be an improvement. Insulin could help if he is responsible enough with his diet. In fact, thats what im doing now between cycles. Fat gain is minimal if any and gains are still coming.
