Why Exercising and Physical Activity is Vital

    By: Katherine Perkins

Doctors and health researchers universally agree that daily physical activity and exercise are important regardless of age. Quality of life improvements are only a small part of the benefits this will cause. Just a few desirable personal gains include general muscle strengthening and body tone. As you age, your bones will be stronger and the visible affects of age will be less prominent on your skin. You can save a ton of money in skin care products to battle the signs of aging alone. Take a look at the article below to see a few more of the many benefits discussed.

There are three great benefits available with physical exercise.

Do you have any idea how important muscles are for burning calories? The average person knows nothing about it. Toned and strong muscles burn more calories than those that are soft or flabby. This happens because muscle tissues are what is known as metabolically active tissues. Firm muscles occupy less space while softer muscles require more space. This means that your body can even burn calories when it’s resting. The reason why losing fat tends to be easier for men is because they naturally have more muscle mass than women.

The number one effect of working out that people are looking for is weight loss. This is, of course, possible, if you go about it the right way. Aerobic type exercise, where you take in more oxygen and burn fat, are ideal for this purpose. Different kinds of exercise will cause you to burn fat at different rates. Running or jogging is terrific for losing weight, although there are drawbacks if you have knee problems. Losing weight, of course, requires you to pay attention to your diet in addition to exercising. You will find that it is easier to fight off colds and viruses when you have a proper amount of regular exercise as well. The overall mechanisms involved are highly complex as you can imagine. But just one factor is your blood circulation increases to a higher level with regular exercise. Your blood oxygen level is higher which allows your immune system response and associated cells to perform at a higher level.

Among many other benefits, exercise has proven as effective as medication for disorders such as depression, if it’s not worse than a moderate case. People often report feeling more emotionally balanced and happy after they begin an exercise program. This can occur for a variety of reasons. Regular exercise causes various changes in your body on many levels. The chemical processes in your brain are altered by this activity. The overall result tends to be that you feel more content and centered. Sticking to your exercise program also gives you an increased level of confidence.

There is a lot of research, and more coming out all the time, that exercising and fitness programs will help to prevent many kinds of age related health problems and diseases.

The most powerful one-two punch you can deliver is consistent fitness or activity plus healthy a diet of healthy nutrition. This way, you’ll be getting two types of advantages that work together to produce great results. Imagine your body is a high quality sports car. If you want to energize your body to the maximum degree, you have to give it the right mix of working out, sleep and high quality nutrition. The benefits of a rigorous fitness program that is performed regularly are many and impressive. Even if you are physically limited and can only do certain types of exercises, then that is fine just as long as you can do something. After a long period of inactivity it is wise to seek medical attention and permission before starting an exercise regimen. It is also wise to begin slowly and add steadily. It is very important to start slow and be patient. This will reduce the risk of injury and put you in a prime position for sustainable results.

You’ll see in the end that your quality of life will dramatically improve.
