TweetStyx rocks. My band is going to cover one of their songs.
Tom Sawyer... even 20..30 years later that song still sounds great.
TweetWell I actually had a fun saturday for a change. a friend of mine invited me to go see Styx at the casino lastnight, damn glad I decieded to stop by ! there where LOTS of fine looking ladies and even went back stage. we where the next two people in line to meet the band, and get a picture with them too, but their manager is a tool pouch !!! he wouldn't let the band sign any autographs and told us to split. im glad I got to finally see them in my lifetime, they sounded just great and really put on a show. worth checking them out if you get a chance.

Tweetlol! Styx, Boston, Foreigner. All good bands from the 70's, and those were some pretty wild times.
TweetYeah. Styx did Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto, Renegade, Babe, etc. Different sound from Rush.Originally Posted by wolfyEVH

TweetHey Mick, was kinda wondering where you where at. yeah, we get all the ol' skool guys over here on the coast. I missed Cheap Trick, who was also a blast from what my bro Chris tells me an shown me pic of. But ol' JJY and Tommy Shaw and the boys jus really had a good time and jammed with us. But I'll tell y'all what,..when they started "Lady"...I sang but a couple verses, and about welled up with tears. jus something about it that song that,..how can I explain,..moves me... sucks being alone. Anyway, it was a big surprise to me to get invited last minute, seeing a killer stadium quality show in a living room environment ! and then be just steps away from shaking hands and really meeting these guys I only had seen in pictures,..Icons. No biggie,...we where almost there, and didn't come home trashed. (grin)

Tweeti was never a styx fan, saw them five years ago, in a line up with reo, and a couple others from that era, they were fantastic live, an incredible show, great sounds, excellent vocals, they rocked
TweetDid they play "First Time" from their Cornerstone Album? Thats the ballad i liked. Never got much airplay tho. There were so many bands during that time period it would be hard to list them all.
TweetNo, I dont believe so. they did Sail Away, Lorali, Miss America, Blue Collar man, Lady, Too much time on my hands, a mix of some others all in one, and a new ballad. their original bass player came on a did a couple of songs with them too. I wasn't a big fan either, but till I seen Reo and Styx live, that kinda changed my mind. they really looked like they where having a goodtime and jammed ! no drunken fights, no barricades and no a$$hole security pushing people around.Originally Posted by mick-G

Tweet^Lol! DeYoung isn't with them anymore is he?? Didn't he and Shaw have some kinda control prob with the rights to their songs or something like that, and thats what broke them apart? I may have this wrong, but i saw a bio on them awhile back.

TweetThe original drummer was John Panozzo and Dennis DeYoung was keyboards and vocals and was the frontman and founder. He wrote many of the songs. If gonna see if i can find out is DeYoung is still with them and what exactly happened.
