**I DIDNT WEAR A HELMET WHEN RODE MY BIKE...I WRECKED AND GOT SCRAPED UP. SIMPLE AS THAT. YOU LIVED AND LEARNED.


**MOM SAID "IN OR OUT" YOU GO OUT, YOU STAY OUT FOR THE DAY IN THE SUMMER HEAT

**I GOT UP EARLY AND CUT GRASS FOR EXTRA MONEY AND BY 3 OR SO I USUALLY MADE ABOUT $100 DURING THE SUMMER. EVERY SATURDAY.

**I HAD TO CUT MY OWN YARD FOR FREE BECAUSE I LIVED THERE

**MY DAD BOUGHT ME A $200 BLOWN UP DATSUN 260 Z CAR WHEN I WAS 15 AND WE WORKED ON IT TILL I TURNED 16. AFTER THAT WHATEVER I WANTED TO DRIVE I HAD AND BUY IT MYSELF

**I HAD TO EAT WHAT MY MOM FIXED FOR DINNER. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. TOUGH IF YOU DIDNT LIKE IT, NOTHING ELSE TILL THE NEXT MEAL IF YOU DIDNT EAT IT.

**I GREW UP AT THE LAKE ON THE WEEKENDS...I FISHED, SWAM, SKIED. MY GRANDFATHER SAID AND I QUOTE " WE COME TO THE LAKE TO HAVE FUN - NOW GRAB A RAKE"


**IF I DID WRONG IN SCHOOL OR ANYTHING THAT DESERVED A WHIPPING...MY MOM TORE ME UP. THEN WHEN DAD GOT HOME AND MOM TOLD HIM ABOUT IT - HE TORE ME UP. THEY DIDNT "SPARE THE ROD AND SPOIL THE CHILD" BELIEVE ME! YOU DID WHAT WAS EXPECTED OF YOU

**IF I WANTED TO GO TO A FRIENDS HOUSE...THEY HAD TO COME AND STAY WITH ME FIRST SO MY PARENTS COULD MEET THEM AND "APPROVE"

**I WAS TAUGHT TO SAY "YES MA'AM, NO MA'AM" AND "YES SIR, NO SIR" TO ALL FOLKS OLDER THAN ME. I STILL DO TODAY

Tweetmy kids are raised like that now, but i know what your saying...kids today, typically, are not. other parents think i'm too hard or to strict with my kids.
this past weekend my youngest son (8) stayed the night at a friends...i almost dont let my kids stay the night at friends, becouse everytime they do, they come home with their heads all fuked up. not so much my 11 yr old, she knows better now, but my 8 yr old still does. when the parents dropped him off they came in, with my son, the freind, and the freinds little brother. while i was talking to the parents (yes, both came in) the kids started running, yelling, putting their hands on everything, throwing crap around, just out of control. i had enough (after about 45 seconds) i excused myself and yelled very loud...STOP!!!!! they all stopped. i said "unless you want your butt spanked with a belt, i suggest you calm waaay down"...my son stopped, listened, and told his freinds...lets go outside on the trampoline.
the 2 parents looked at me, smiling, and said..."huh, he thaught you meant it"..i said "i did...i have no problem smaking that asz with a belt if he deserves it"..the mom said..."oh, i could never do that..." i interupted her and asked if she needed me to do it for her...i'll straighten those boys out!!! she wasnt amused...a few hrs later she called my wife to decline the offer of her little butt muncher staying next sat. night over, but my son was welcomed over there...i told my wife to tell her thanks, but it's gonna take me 2 weeks to get his head on straight already...kid comes home, barking orders, thinking we got a restuarant at dinner time, talking back...yea...he can go over there again...in about a month

Tweetyou know, these sound funny at first, but i find it to be truely sad! i was raised like you guys and the kids are now lazy and rude! i am VERY strick with my son about manners and respect and it's sad to see that no one is raising their kids that way.

and dave, i really hate those bad kids with sorry azz parents that would rather judge others then correct their messed up kids! poeple are too busy blaming others in the world for the way their kids are rather then teaching at home first!!!

same as you said, but with alot of horse back riding and shoveling shyt!!! i worked hard, but my dad let us play hard. i've been to the calgery stampeed, i've rode horse back from lake erie, across michigan, to lake michigan and camped on the beach....i'll raise my kids the same way i was raised. i'll be strict, they have to work, but the rewards will be great.

TweetMy mom put us to work! And she made us play outside all day. No tv while it was still light outside! We ate what she made for us, or we didn't eat. But we still had to sit at the table until everyone else was finished. And you better not make her discipline you! She'd grab a spatula, a wooden spoon, or take you upstairs for the belt if it was more serious! After that you'd have to wait in your room until Dad got home. And being grounded meant you're more available for work detail . . . sounds like some of your upbringings as well. It just goes to show that there are still some good responsible parents out there.

And Dave! That is great how you offered to help those people with their discipline problem - I love that!

lol..well, you know what they say bro...it takes a village...and i'll by the village punisher! it's the least i can do...

i was raised the same...i was the youngest by 8 years, out of 4 boys. we had 12 horses when my 3 brothers were home...by the time i was 11, they were all out of the house, and we had swelled to 23 horses!!! i busted my asz. my friends HATED to come to my house, becouse my dad would put them to work...when we was done, he'd ALWAYS hand out some $. so, the only time they'd come over was when they were broke. i thank my dad (i actually have!) for the way i was raised...at times, i remember thinking i hated my parents for being so hard on me. my only hope is that my kids hate me the same way, lol. atleast then i believe they'll be SOME responcible, level headed people out there when i get old! too many parents fuk their kids up, and i mind my own biz. until they question my job as a parent. then.....then they get what i think of them, and it usually DONT end up in an argument...my kids are polite. they DONT talk back, and are perfectly willing, and most times, even expect to help out when at a freinds house....hard to argue with that!

lol...thats how my dad was with my brothers. i was too young. we had a real sence of family. no matter how mad we was at eachother, you mess with one, you mess with all! i didnt really have that, but i remember them having it, and it sank into me.
i didnt really get the grounded thing. we lived in the sticks, so all they could do is say "no friends", wich meant, no-one could come over to help me do shyt around the ranch, lol. if my report card was bad, my dad would say i must have alot of time on my hands, seeing how i'm not doing homework. then, he'd write out a list of shyt for me to do everyday for about a week or 2, that there was NO WAY possible i could get it all done. then he'd HAMMER me for not getting it done!
