  • T3 and L-carn

Is it true that T3 can’t be taken with L-carn? I can’t find much on this subject at all.

I don’t understand how L-carn’s mechanism could have issues with T3?

no it can be taken but l carn can lower the afinity of t3 but their isnt much info out there about it or how it works. so from what i understand, it doesnt surpress t3 it lessens its effects. so say you are on 100mcg t3 you will only be getting say around 25. that may be way off numbers wise but that's how i understand it. i honestly dont think it has the big of an impact at all. tons of bodybuilders are using it and still getting stupid lean. john meadows was a huge advocate for it's use when fat loss stalled out and got nasty peeled. so i really dont think it has that big of an impact. my labs have always come back good while using it with my thyroid meds so it doesnt have a huge impact on mine at all

Where does some of this stuff come from? Is it talking heads in the iron world wanting to make a name for themselves?

the t3 thing came from it being used to stop thyroid storms in people. like where the thyroid starts cranking out t3 so high that it is about to kill someone and they roll into the er. they then administer l- carn through an iv at god awful high dosing and it completely stops the process. that's where this belief comes from is what doc scott said. let me see if i can pull up the huge paper that he wrote on it or the video. if it is in a protected area that i pay for i will let you know though and see if i can get you the links.

I agree with guns. Why would you think t3 would be contraindicated with an amino acid?

Sorry I mis wrote. I don't agree with guns. If there is any suppression at all from using l carn there is no way it will cause 100 mcgs to behave like 25. If that's true it means l carn really destroyes t3 effects and that's just not believable.
If he said 100 may act like 90 or 80 I'd be more inclined to take the post seriously

yeah the decrease in t3s effects is marginal at best. all you have to do is look at guys like john meadows and his athletes to see that they arent having issues losing bodyfat. hell, you have me thinking i might do a little blood work experiment after this summer to see how much it does decrease it, in myself

From what I know, L-carnitine's mechanism shouldn’t interfere with T3.

watch dr scott stevenson's videos on youtube about the subject. he even provides the papers and labs that show that it does. i would post the one from my private pay site but that wouldnt be right to do since i pay for it but most he has out there for free.

also keep in mind that this is done with injectable l carn and not oral. the oral version pretty much doesnt do dick, so in that case it def wouldnt mess with thyroid because you cant orally take enough for it to have positive fat loss effects without it making you sick as hell. another known scientific fact is inj is the most effective method of administration because the amount needed orally isnt tolerated in the gut

I didn't read whole thread sorry. Was wondering how much does it affect T3.
I never use varnitime anyway but curious

                          Re: T3 and L-carn

Anyone use small amounts of t3, like 6.25-12.5 MCGS a day in off season just to help shuttle nutrients to muscles. Kind of like what insulin does if used after training.

I've done this quite a bit. I also have a crazy fast metabolism so even PRECONTEST I've never used more than 18.75mcgs of t3. I found it does really work well.

He was discussing there being a potential for l carnitine at doses not really standard to potentially bring t3 to a standard level if one is either hypo or hyper....

                            And this is potentially.

If there was an issue it would be observed and talked about to a greater extent by coaches.

Taking t3 with l carnitine is fine.

you missed what he was bringing up. their is research and papers out there that show the use of l carn surpresses t3 production and conversion. he has much more detailed videos and discussions on the pay site. he doesnt say not to use it or that it isnt effective but he points our that it can slow the fat loss process down and more t3 may be needed in order to keep the metabolism going at the rate necessary.
you get t3 downregulation while dieting and the l carn it seems increases it as well. that's basically what it says
