TweetSounds good. Do convenience stores buy their gas from exxon/mobil
TweetThis was an email sent to me from my mother and I thought I would share it with you guys and maybe some of you could send it to others or post it on other boards you visit, if you feel it could be possible. I honestly think this could work if enough people got in on it.

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.
This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.
Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May!
It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!
I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?
We need to take some intelligent, united action.
The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas .
It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work. Please read on and join with us!
By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.08 at Arco and Costco for regular unleaded in Salem , Oregon and climbing every week.
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers.
With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.
The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.
But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.
Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.
If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers .
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!
If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!
(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician But I am . so trust me on this one.
How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!
I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.
If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.
TweetSounds good. Do convenience stores buy their gas from exxon/mobil
TweetIt really sucks. This is going to end up raising prices on groceries and everything else. Oil companies suck.
People should ride bicycles. We'd get rid of the health care crisis aND the oil crisis. I'm getting rid of my car and buying a bike. Anyone care to join me?
TweetExxon mobil will be fine weather you buy gasoline from a mobil, wawa, or your other local place. There market share is huge these other gas station most likely have oil that originated from an exxon/mobil plant. So all people would do is hurt the owners of a mobil gas station not the corporation. Sorry guys nothing we can do, at a certain price level people will consume less. When they consume less the oil companies will make less money and adjust the price to whatever the equilibrium price is for the market. Gas is still cheap when you relate it to your other expenses. I just paid $55 today to get 15.5 gallons, but I also paid $4.55 today for a 20oz coffee. So the $55 for gas actually allows me to go to work and make money. Dont get me wrong $2 a gallon would be awesome and the oil companies would still make money at that level but there isnt enough competition in the oil market to keep prices down.
TweetSounds like you need to start brewing your own coffee....
TweetI got to $100.00 on my Diesel and the pump stopped because that is the most you can spend on one transaction. I hit the Full mark but it wasn't completely full.

Tweethaha, well the starbux isnt a dailly ritual but the point I was trying to make is 1 gallon of anything isnt cheap.
TweetThat plan would not work for two reasons. One, it will never happen. Two, if it did it still wouldn't hurt the large fuel companies because most fuel in an area comes out of the same oil refinery. For instance, if you live in near KY such as a bordering state, then most of your oil comes from Marathon Ashland Petroleum (MAP). It doesn't matter whether you buy your fuel from a Shell station, Chevron, or Exxon. You may make that particular gas station go out of business but another one will pick up the slack, selling the same fuel. The only difference from what I've always heard with regard to different gas stations is that the refinery will add different additives for their specifications. Another factor the person failed to consider is that prices are determined a great deal by supply and demand. If the supply decreases then demand goes up. This is the case with Libya and other middle eastern countries in chaos presently. If Saudi Arabia follows suit then the supply will temporarily go down much further. I agree there is some crooked business going on with the oil companies, mainly because the big players in the Middle East are a cartel and do not abide by OPEC laws, but they get to charge whatever they want essentially.

TweetFuel will never be that cheap again with all the environmental regulations of today. You would be suprised at how much money the refineries spend a year upgrading to meet impossible regulations.
They call you paranoid until the worst happens, and in the aftermath they will call you a hero.
TweetWhen everything gets back to somehwat normal again gas prices will go down again

TweetIt will all be gone soon enough, then we wont have to worry about the price of it.
Tweetif you dont buy gas 1 day then you will have to buy it the next if you need it. monthly profits are exactly the same.
want to drop gas prices, drop demand. stop driving
TweetIt is simple supply and demand. It does not matter who you but it from, it matters how much is consumed.
The funny thing is, we hear nothing from the "big oil" conspirists yelling how GWB is lining his pockets and abusing the presidency because liberal Barry is in office.

TweetExactly! When Bush was in office the media went wild accusing him of being in bed with the oil companies. Now that Obama is in office they hardly mention anything about it. The only reason the mainstream media is even covering the story at all is because local news channels are, but they are not taking it out on Obama. If prices stay high though it could mean the end of Obama. If doesn't matter what the media says, Americans will be fed up of high unemployment and high gas prices.
