You're spot on. I actually rolled over my 401k from my prior company 2 years ago to a traditional IRA with TD Ameritrade, which I like very well and have used for stock trading for the last 6 years. They have far more options than the company 401k had and permit me to buy pretty much anything. I was speaking of my current 401k that I have mostly invested in bonds. Basically, I transferred most of my 401k into bond funds, but my allotments are still purchasing stocks and mutual funds. I'm no expert in the stock market by any means and could surely learn from you. This just seemed like a safer bet with my limited options with my company 401k.

I have most in T-bonds. Some makin over 6.5% and its tax differed, so if i desperately need liquid cash, i draw it from there. I only wish they could be rolled over.

I don't have the money to invest. I learned a long time ago the Lord does not want me wealthy. Every time I would have the money to invest, some major event happens to take it all away. sigh.....my wish hand is still empty.

JsJS24, never studied ecnomics in depth. I just learned years ago that I needed to pay myself first every week. Then my bills are taken care of. Whatever is left goes into an account to continue to buy precious metals.
Short story. After graduating college, I discovered credit cards!!! Spent myself into oblivion. Then the time to pay them back came around. Wound up wprking 3 jobs for 4 years to pay them all back. Had offers from my family for financial help, but refused. I got myself into it, I'll get myself out.
Since then, I have always worked and scraped to get the things I want. Most things are paid in full in cash when purchased, except house and vehicle.
I decided to live well within my means and have become comfortable with it. Don't have to have the best of everything, or keep up with all the others.
When the opportunity arose to start investing, I did like everyone else, stocks and bonds. I also began to keep notice of trends and fluctuations in the market. Wanted something stable and with a slow but steady growth potential. Gold caught my eye.
Have invested in other things, but keep returning to precious metals.
Did make some quick bucks when the auto companies tanked. Bought shares at pennies and sold them in a matter of days for nice profits. Took the money and bought metals.
Push it, Pull it, Rack it. Repeat untill wide!!

Take nothing I say as serious, What do I know, I sell water!!

You have a great system set up. Get rid of the car payment and you can buy even more gold! I wish I started investing in precious metals as early as you did but I guess better late than never.

Read Napoleon Hill and Wallace D. Wattle's books if you haven't done so already. My life has changed for the better ever since reading their books on success. I can think of no better motivator for positive thinking and a sound philosophy for pursuing goals in life.
