TweetMan I'm sorry BigDawg, Unfortunately I know what your going through.
Don't worry yourself about not getting that last beer with your dad. Just remember all the good times.
TweetI did the same thing before my grandfather died. I drove down for a visit with my parents and as I passed by my g'parents house I thought I should drop in and say "hello", but instead I decided to drop by the next time. He had a heart attack before my next visit. He was in the hospital and it was my mom's birthday. We were suppose to take her to dinner. Before I left for the hospital my parents called and to tell me that they were releasing him. He was going home. They wanted us to meet for diner instead, so I didn't go to the hospital. While they were signing his release papers, he had another heart attack and was gone. I felt so bad for not going to see him. I regretted going to the hospital that day too...
No one really knows when they are going to die. I sat by my g'mother for hours when she was dying because I regretted not visiting with my g'father. We went home the night and early the next morning my dad and aunt went back to the hospice to check on her. They had just left the hospice to meet us for breakfast and the hospice called to tell us she passed away. That's when I realized you can't always be there. No matter how hard you try, and what is import is that you always remember how much they loved you. It all about the memories you have of them.
My prayer are with you and your family.
TweetSorry to hear that man. I could not imagine going through something like that. My dad is the same way. He always tells me how good he is doing and I have to hear about his doctor's appointments through other people. It drives me crazy!!
Definately remember the good times and don't dwell over the pub thing.
