format it...... nothing better than a nice clean and freash hard drive.....
then either buy the winXP cd or just borrow it from someone (u'd need the corporate version)

Make sure the PC can handle XP.

For XP you really should have 256MB of RAM (128 will get you by...slowly), 2gigs HD space, and a PIII or better processor.

True, what I really want is to get rid of all the "junk" on here so it will run better. I did a scan from Lavasoft and found all kinds of bulls#it thats jammin it up like GainAdware, sextracker, gator to name a few. would it be worth the 30 bills to buy the licience for the download to get rid of all this..? really worth it to me! but i'm looking for suggestions on what to do im not really not too sharp when it comes to p.c's.

Yeah get spybot from www.download.com. It'll will find all the shit and clean it. Also if you know someone who has Norton Internet Security I'd recommend borrowing it and loading it on your PC especially if you plan on using a high speed connection.

spybot, adaware and many other will clean most of the shit off the HD... it will NOT clean it all..... in few days/week or so u will be back to the same shit again... it multiplies and spreads really fast... like i said formating cleans all of it.. well most of the time... (there is also certain viruses out there that can survive even formating)

as for running the XP... i ran it for 2 years on my Pll 400 with 128mb, with NO problems. I overclocked it to 450 and popped in another 265mb of ram and have been running it ever since wiht NO problems....

once u format it, get norton antivirus 2003 off kazaa lite, and also norton personal firewall 2003..... the 2004 versions want u to register etc (too much hassle)
update them both and keep them ON all the time...
it still won't guarantee 100% that u won't have any of the crap on ur pc after some time but it will prevent/slow down most of it...
