Yes, guys, as we approach the anniversary of 9/11, lets not forget that they killed almost 3000 innocent people in the name of allah.

I believe that we are on the right path in working towards a free and democratic iraq. we are TRYING to do the right thing. This is 1000 times better than not trying at all just because its expensive or dangerous. The 50 million people we have liberated in iraq and afghanistan wont forget. True, there will be hard times ahead but freedom is not free.
Well put! Freedom is not free. Just look at the history of the US. We kicked the crap out of the French, then the Brits, then ourselves, then the entire world watched as we saved Europe and when that wasnt enough we came back and saved Europe again. Now, Korea and Vietnam didn't go perfectly well but we did what we though was right. Now there is a free Vietnam and a free Korea. We saved Afganistan not once, but twice now. We saved Iran and Kuwait from Iraq, what do we get from them, nothing. We liberate Iraq and put the worst man since ****** in prison, what do we get, nothing. No one ever said doing the right thing was easy, but doing the right thing is what's right. The Democrates would rather let bigons be bigons. That wont work with terrorists. You have to kill the disease before you can heal the body. Right now the middle east is infected with a disease and we are the anitidote. Why us, becasue the rest of the world is busy worrying about themselves and because there is no country that has ever won a major war I modern times without our help. Period!

We agree on a lot when it comes to politics and religion. The other thing is just point of view. My point of view is correct and your point of view is correct. Seriously, that debate could go both ways depending on who you ask. I like having battles of witts with armed guys, it keeps me sharp.

200 billion dollars of American tax dollars spent on Iraq... Am I the only one who thinks that 200 billion is alot of money to spend (throw away) on Iraq? We did the right thing with Afgan. We needed to kick some ass. But come on 200 billion on Iraq?

Surely even those who think we Americans have the correct way to do everything and should force our system onto Iraq would agree that 200 billion is too much money..

I can tell you for a fact that the troops are not supported as well as your led. If you watch the TV you'll notice that the troops are wearing green body armor or green flak jackets. Along with green ammo belts etc etc. I've been to and trained in the desert -- anything green or dark can be seen for many many yards aways. TARGET. But the goverment can give away soccer balls, train and PAY the Iraq police etc etc And the US government can not even properly dress the basic US troop.

      200 Billion dollars??? Please

      1) do you actually think Bush and his group started this war for their own interests? I mean, do you actually think Bush sent 200,000 young americans over there for no reason at all other than some crazy conspiracy you liberals have yet to elaborate on?

      2) do you agree hussein was a bad leader that killed many of his own people, and that he needed to be taken out so the iraqi people could have a chance at self-determination?

      3) do you agree that after 12 years the UN had no power to take hussein out, and the rest of the world was too pacifistic to do the right thing and enforce the cease-fire treaty hussein signed in 1991?

      4) do you agree afghanistan was a sanctuary for terrorists and the taliban had to go?

      5) would you rather go kill the terrorists over there, or would you rather have them hit us on our soil again, then have the FBI try and find them--using a neutered Patriot Act? (thanks to the liberals?)

      6) are you glad now that iraqi girls can go to school and iraqi women can now have substantial positions in iraqi society?

please, be specific when answering these questions...Im interested in what you have to say.
I believe Bush's intent is all good. I think he is a very patriotic leader and cares deeply for our country. However, I do think Afghanistan is where our key focus should be. In my opinion it was not time to go into Iraq. We are suppost to be capturing Bin Laden but you don't hear much about him anymore huh. Not one word mentioned about him at the Republican convention. And to answer your question "6," Iraq is no better off now then they were before the war. Sure they might have more rights coming their way, but that doesn't do much good when there are mortars, rockets, and car bombs going off every day in the streets and buildings. If you have been there before then we could maybe have a better debate on this issue, but I don't think people have a clue what is going on over there. I just returned home in June and am going back next month. It is hell over there, no doubt about it. The sad thing is, it not even near improvement. Everybody is entitled their own opinion, but I don't see how anyone can think we are making a difference in Iraq. I mean yea, we are helping them set up a democracy, but we have kickstarted terroism over there far worse than it was before. My hopes are that we catch Bin Laden; he's the bastard responsible for most of the terrorism........not Saddam. And what about Kim in N. Korea, don't you think he's a bigger threat than Saddam was. I've been to Korea also and learned a lot while I was there about that sick son-of-a-*****.

On another note, I am proud to do what I can to help Iraq, I just hope it is worth it in the long run.

This is exactly why we are in more trouble now. Why should we continue to spend billions of US dollars a month on a country that does not respect us and burn our flag? How about all the ppl here at home that need help and have no health care, destroyed homes from natural disasters, tax increases etc.,seniors on fixed incomes, not to mention the jobless, and homeless. I believe Bush is trying to finish what his father couldn't. And how many of our men and women must die for this cause. The count is now over 1,000? I do agree that they should be looking at N. Korea, as they now have the power to nuke Cali and more troops and firepower. I will prob vote for Bush anyway, though, as i don't see a conviction from Kerry, just alot of promises without any backup. Sorry i just don't see how this mess balances the checks and minuses.

We Canadians wore green cadpat camoflage over in Afghanistan. It stands out all day but at night, it works much better then the desert night cam. As we Canadians have learnt in our peacekeeping endevours, that you need to have the right gear and be in teh right place. Colour is a bit of an issue but the terrorists wear regular clothes, or black, not exactly what you'd call a desert fighting outfit. Another fact is that the terrorists are not really ambushing out in the big open areas where conventional troops are mostly trained to operate.FIBUA (MOUT) training is good for the basics but you learn a lot when you are under fire in an urban area. Fighting in built up areas (FIBUA) will negate a lot of the advantages of camoflage, because dark works best to hide in the shadows naturally cast by overhead cover. Been there done that in Yugo. Yes I know its not the desert but I walked backwards for 3 months of my tour, and learnt that camo doesn't work worth shit in the city.

JSJS...I for one and Im sure I am speaking for the vast majority when I say "thank you" and we are proud of you and your service to our country. Sure, there are going to be many many horrible things that happen not only to Iraqis, but to others in the middle east, and possibly even here in our beloved USA. but remember friends, it is not us throwing the bombs, hiding our faces behind masks and beheading innocent people, making outrageous demands over the threat of death to innocents (i.e. the terrorists demands that france repeal the no muslim scarf wearing at school law), the recruitment of simple minded young people to commit suicide for "the cause" (why dont the leaders ever do it?? hmmm..), screaming in the churches (mosques) to kill ALL Americans-men, women, and children (the terrorists make NO distinction between soldiers and civilians)....we are the good guys. our hope is to establish a free society in iraq. if it WERE up to the USA, everything would go in quick fashion. The USA is not the cause of the problem..the bad guys are the ones screwing everything up. What would you that are against the war want us to do? We went over there because Russia, Germany, England, and our own intel suggested WMD. Saddam had gassed his own people. We ARE there now, helping as best we can..our biggest allies, except for Great Britain and Australia chose to be pacifistic..the jury is still out on that one, IMO, as there are many hints at financial motivation to keep making UN resolutions rather than enforce them. The USA and our true friends are only doing what the UN did not have the guts to do. remember that. the UN threatened and threatened. Only the US backed it up. We did everything we could to avoid this. Now we are there, and as MY President said yesterday to the UN, there will be "no retreat, we will prevail".

And at what cost? And is anything getting better there?? Really?? I do commend the troops there, but many are very young and got into the military on a recuriters sales pitch and are dying, and for what? And do you think that they care about us doing anything for them?? Hell their killing contractors. I say screw them, get the hell out of there and let them kill themselves and i know alot of ppl that feel the same. Do you have any idea of what the cost of this is doing to our economy. I see what i pay in income tax, propery taxes, etc going up and up. I respect your opinion but, to me it doesnt sound like this hits you.

Thats right. I wish I could find that picture that was taken in the mid 80's with Rumesfiled shaking a yound Sadamms hand

      march 2003-sept 16 2004

      1027 young american troops DEAD.
      7,245 injured

Just do some research and you find that Iraq was very low on the list of the countries that support terroist. Thats right LOW.

Bush. He neglected to even show up for his last 18months of guard service. Yet he still got an honorable discharge?

Bush was playing politcs way back then as he transfered units to get to alabma to help on a family friends election campaign.

He still get my vote as I hate Kerry. I'd rather vote for nader.
