Sorry CG, but that is completely incorrect. These are the poll numbers:
“Most residents of Baghdad say that ousting Saddam Hussein was worth the hardships they've endured since then, says a Gallup poll that shows they are divided on whether the country is worse off or better off than before the U.S. invasion.
Two-thirds, 67 percent, say they think that Iraq will be in better condition five years from now than it was before the U.S.-led invasion. Only 8 percent say they think it will be worse off.”

Lol..
It's one responsibility to help those who WANT help.
But forceing help on someone who doesn't want it isn't right either. And this is what happened in IRAQ. Ask the general population, and you'll find they would rather have Sadam than Bush. They wrongly believe he is the lesser of 2 evils.
That's the problem...they don't want your help. They are stupid, bullheaded, brainwashed, and manipulated via religion. So if you force it on them, it just brings resentment.
You guys just don't understand. You don't think the Iraqis want us there.....ok, and South Korea doesn't want us there either...yea right. You see people interviewed on Camera that were scared to death of Saddam, so they lie and say they want him in power. I'm sorry but I guess none of you have been there....and obviously don't know anyone that has personally either. Let me say this much....the U.S. Military is fighting...not civilians....and I can tell you that the majority want to be there and fight. Take that how you want to but it's the truth.
TweetGallop is a respected organization. They use sound scientific sampling methods. If you are curious to their methodology in surveying Iraqi respondents, you will find it on their website.
I am rather amused by the imagination and expertise of those who live outside the US. I love conspiracy theories……..maybe G.W. is really an alien!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers all

TweetIsolationism has never worked. Resources are limited. I worked with the Coalition for the Homeless every week. It is should not take a militarized army to feed the homeless. It takes a civilian army willing to take the time.Originally posted by MYRICK
THE SAD THING ABOUT OUR COUNTRY IS OUR GOVT DOES MORE TO HELP OTHERS THAN OUR OWN WE WOULD RATHER GIVE HOMES AND FOOD TO IRAQIS THEN OUR OWN PPL HERE. I DONT SEE BUSH SENDING THE ARMY TO GIVE OUR HOMELESS FOOD AND SHELTER
(this is not directed at you Myrick) I hear people talking all the time about what the gov’t should be doing to save or help the needy. This is their cop-out for not taking their time to dedicate to the cause.
I leave this thread with this: Imagine a world where each country has its own identity, culture, and democracy. Doesn’t every citizen of the world deserve this, and what can we do collectively that will create this global environment. I believe that individualized efforts multiplied by the millions of able people can make a better world for all.
Hoorah!

1st thing you need to learn. DON'T TRUST AMERICAN MEDIA! Seriously. The whole rest of the world's media is saying 1 thing, but since the American media says something different the whole rest of the world MUST be wrong. You need to peak you head out from under the blankets bro... This isn't conspiricy theories or anything else other than just common sence and observation. We are just lucky in Canada as we are greatly influenced by American, Canadian, AND British media... we get to see more of the whole picture if you will.
You seem to have missed my point. I was saying the Iraqi people would prefer Sadam over Bush. That poll says "It was worth it to get rid of Sadam". Not "We'd rather have American leaders". That poll is an excellent example of how american media can manipulate statistics to make you believe what they want. If you were to have a poll that used this exact wording "Would you rather have Bush or Sadam as a leader" You'd find that the general public would rather have Sadam. And I would seriously doubt the results returned by any american funded company. Most of these polls are taken in the small areas that like the americans. Show me a UN funded opinion poll...that I will trust.
All of what Vandoo has said is correct. Bush has turned his family from millionaires to billionaires in a matter of only a few years...

TweetSecondly you believe that Iraq would want Sadam over Bush….no way bro.
The other day I was watching one of those fabricated American news agencies. They show an Iraqi who received a prescription to go see the doc. It was sent to him by order of Sadam. It instructed him to report to the hospital on a certain day at a specific time. The prescription detailed the procedure that was to be done. The man went, and when he left he was missing a limb.
It seems as though Sadam decided that his profession was no longer legal and all that had worked in that field were ordered to have a limb removed. This guy for 2 weeks knew that he was going to have a healthy, functioning limb cut off on a certain date….and he went. Why? Because if he didn’t his whole family would have been subjected to Sadam’s wrath.
That is one case that illustrates the fear a whole nation lived under. I think that a choice between Bush and Sadam would be easy for most.
There is progress going on in north and south Iraq. Where most problems are occurring is in the small regions that were actually treated well by Sadam.

I 100% think Iraq and it's people would be better off with Bush. But the Iraqi people as a whole don't think so. They have been fooled to believe Bush is WORSE!
I know Sadam treated them like shit...they know Sadam treated them like shit. BUT, they wrongly think Bush would be worse.
There's lots of 1-off stories about Iraqi's wanting american rule. Usually from better educated or more traveled citizens. But the majority think Bush is worse.
Until you can convince the Majority of Iraqi citizens that american occupation is a good thing, they will apose you. And your never going to convince them it's a good thing while you are currently occupying the country.
