"The R0 of this virus is thought to be 3-5 - that is very high. RO means R naught- it represents the number of people that 1 person staying within a close radius to other people will infect. So- if you even look at the lower end of that - use 3 ( an NBA player that has been playing a game and sweating, breathing on, bumping into teammates and competitors is very close contact. The incubation time is unknown- likely 5-20 days before symptoms and yes- many asymptomatic and will remain asymptomatic. However, the asymptomatic can transmit the virus ( this is so terrifying for a really new virus- that zero person has any immunity to. usually we shed virus only when we appear symptomatic- Ebola. SATS, MERSetc) another freakish thing about this virus is studies show it will live on hard surfaces for up to 9 days. That is astronomical! Touch that surface and touch your face / eye/ nose and voila- you are likely carrying it. Imagine the locker room where they all sit on benches give high fives and are sweating plus the hard surfaces of the lockers etc... each person who picks it up from someone symptomatic or not then also can transmit to 3 more ( realize this is why NBA immediately stopped when only 1 player was found to be positive- I assume that is how all those players have likely been tested as their risk of carrier status is very high. I can’t. Recall ? Utah Jazz player I think-but you will recall who that was : here is the math- exponential rise - day to newly infected a whether Ill or just asymptomatic carrier transmitting-
Day 1 3
Day 2 9
Day 3 81
Day 4 6561
Day 5 43,046,741
See? In the next 14 days- if these aggressive measures haven’t been enough- and we haven’t blunted this curve below our capacity- it will be catastrophic. Also- now after 2 weeks- stats out of Italy are throwing doubt on the “ only old and those with underlying health issues get seriously ill” there are 20, 30, 40 yr olds on ventilators- so that reassuring info appears to have been wrong- a death in WA- 40 ur old healthy male. See? This is why we should a try to come together - we are entering a time of something we have never seen before. That isn’t BS- it is reality. Those numbers are what we are trying to stop. He tested positive and now he has 3 positive teammates? If that is correct and I’m sure you are the best source for that- then the math holds true"
I just don't know what is true when you read it? So much going around now and I even wonder if the bat story is factual? I have never really been a person who watches or listens to the news. I dont want to start now either.
