i grew up the exact same way dirt. we left school and went straight into the woods hunting. we also carried pocket knives and didnt need metal detectors. i can also remember that if you got into a fight and a teacher told you to stop and if you didnt they would go hands on you and their was no problem with that. now if you had the balls enough to go hands on with a teacher that was a whole other ball game. a handful of them would be painfully taking you down with a nice escort to the principle for your forever vacation from any school in the area. we were always held accountable for our actions point blank period. we respected and in some ways feared the authority of our teachers and parents. that is absolutely no where to be found in today's society. parents these days just want to be cool and be their kids best friends.
No kiddin', I went to school in Texas and just about every Kikker (Redneck), had a Buck knife on'em. We partied or asses off and all and had issues, but NEVER, (and with every opportunity mind ya! ) did anyone whip out their shot gun or knife and go slaughtering anybody for crying out loud !
