TweetOh I don't know if I could handle something like that.. I don't like to hurt people so I don't think I could do that. I would feel like I am ruining their life or something.. Especially if they have family.
TweetThis hurts. She has worked for me for 6 years. I feel really down about it today. Probably for the best, but these things are never easy. I sat down with her face to face and told her this morning. Feels almost like breaking up with a girlfriend. Very sad.

TweetSucks bro, I would have a hard time with that.
TweetJust part of the job my friend but I would feel the same way. Your ending someones income and that hurts!
TweetWhy did you let her go? Financial reasons? Her showing up late? I mean honestly it' ok to fire people and get rid of people if they are hurting your business. If you are in financial problems and save over head well that's what you have to do brother. No body get's fired, let go , laid off for no reason
TweetYa man, she did a few things that I tried to overlook and give her the benefit of the doubt for several months. Finally, last week, she was to start her vacation on Wednesday and on monday at the end of the day she told me she would be in on Tuesday before heading out of town...well, she didnt show up and left early for las vegas. I texted her last week and I didnt hear back from her until last night. I think she was starting to take advantage of me for being too nice. Thinking I am way too nice to fire her. While she was gone, on monday, a girl walked in who worked for me many years ago and I hired her on the spot.
The girl who I had to fire is really a good person, just young and she knows now that she really screwed up big time. I missed her bad today even though I had the new girl working. It feels really sad.
TweetMy brother you did the right thing for sure. We all have hearts and care about people but you and your family comes first my friend. A lot of people that have jobs for so long get comfortable and forget to do their normal daily task or call in sick once a week, or no call no show. It's ok to care and help people but being used and taking away from your family is not cool.
You can always give her a second chance maybe she will learn from it? If you can do that. If not my brother move on and take care of you and your family my friend.
I will send my wife to help out for the time being
TweetHaha, sure thing if she is good on a computer...
Well, I left it open that maybe there could be another position created for her and that I would call her tomorrow, but the fact that I already hired her replacement makes it very hard to bring her back.
Man, I had no idea this would be such a painful thing to do. Had she been a bi tch when i fired her, it would have been way easier. But the fact that she said "I love working for you, you have a heart of gold and youre amazing blah blah blah" made it way harder. Goshdangit, breaks my heart. This hurts. Damnit I wish it didnt but it does
TweetI know Diva. I dreaded it. I couldnt sleep. This is one of the toughest things Ive ever had to do. I guess it is normal to regret it, which I do. The fact that she was so sweet about it makes me feel even worse
Tweeti have always been of the mindset at work that business is business and personal is personal. if an individual isnt cutting the bacon and being productive then it is time to move along. i have had my share of ass chewings and been fired from positions on more than once by really good friends of mine outside of work. if i dick the dog and do something messed up i dont hod the boss accountable. this also goes along with the not taking personal crap to work with you. dont sweat it dzone because over time it would get far worse since she was already stretching you to begin with. what people dont realize when they are doing this messed up stuff to their employers is their is always a handful of people in line that want and need the job and will perform.

Tweetthink of it as teaching her a valuable lesson. she obviously needed guidance and this could not have been the first time she has done this stuff. good person or not one must perform well at one's job and be reliable
TweetI sure appreciate the encouraging words from all of you. Its been a tough week, but am feeling better about it .
The new girl is an absolute workaholic. I told her today I really appreciate her attitude and work ethic. She's a freakin machine.
TweetThats why this place is great. We can come here when we are working through issues of any kind and get some great input and advice from some great minds here at FG. It helps, no doubt about it. Thanks FG
TweetDzone you did the right thing. I got fired a bunch of times when I was young just because I was stupid and didn't know what my bosses really wanted. She's young and will get another job soon. Teach the new girl exactly how you want things done and she will work out great. Rake and I had our own business for 20 years and finally realized that employees are just children that you have to babysit. If you need them than babysit, if you can do without them get rid of them. Mutually beneficial relationships are the only ones that stand the test of time.

TweetYou definitely did the right thing brother. It's never easy having to let someone go, but you can't let that person hurt your business. She may have been a great person, but business is business. Don't let it get you down brotha. This is a good learning experience for her. Hopefully she'll utilize this experience and apply herself in her next position.
