    Re: Underground strength for MMA

That's awesome and so true! Natural strength is so important in grappling. As you know in GA, there's a lot of farm boys and when I wrestled I never feared the buffed looking guys, I never feared the mean looking guys, I feared those home grown collard green eating boys. Those dudes were always the strongest and most difficulft to get locked up or to break out of a hold. I remember one dude who 'looked' like nothing and while on the ground he managed to get me in a cradlle, a move I was very successful at kicking out of, and just held me there. Come to find out, he grew up on a farm doing stuff like these dudes in that video. Just a lot of havy lifting and tossing and carrying over and over and over. By far that dude was the strongest guy I ever rolled around with. Natuaral strength goes a long way in grappling, much more so that bench and squat and that stuff. If you think about it, say you want to hip toss a dude, what exercise in the gym will help you with that? None. But the stuff these dude were doing would help with that a lot.
I used to have superhuman powers....until my therapist took them away.

yeah, those farm boys are always the strongest. You just can't do that type of work and not be strong!
