  • Frank Mir Still has Work Left to Do

He faces Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in a UFC Fight Night main event this Sunday in Porto Alegre, Brazil. For Mir, this fight is a test after a year sabbatical from fighting.Ranked 13th in the world, the former UFC heavyweight champion is unlike any other fighter in the UFC. Sure, there are other comeback stories, like Matt Brown, who was once brought back to life after a drug overdose and who fought his way all the way to a title elimination bout against ... Mir was my fav for a long time. His toughness and swagger is something i always liked but man has he slipped so bad since his Hay day a few years ago. What exactly was the reason that he slipped so bad?

Dude had a pretty bad motorcycle accident right when he was hitting his prime, he was never the same after. Then he started playing around with his physical size to keep up with lesner and carwin but that didn't work out too well. He's been with Jackson's for a while now, before that he basically trained himself. His best days are likely behind him but he's still a dangerous fighter who is still learning New tricks. It's hard not to root for the guy!

Used to love to watch him fight. I would love to see him make a comeback. Just don't know if he can get back to the place he was at when he was at his best. Hope he does well.

iti s not that he slipped it is that MMA became huge around him, the talent pool increased. instead of being a shark in the pond he is now just another fish in the ocean.

look at all the old pride guys, they are dinosaurs. they cannot compete with younger more gifted athletes. Mir was one of the first generation of fighters. the evolution of the sport pasted him by. like jens pulver, dan henderson, the gracies, matt hughes, mark coleman ect.

when mir started he was young and hungry and beat tim sylvia who would get his ass kicked by a low level pro. come on tim sylvia. look at how the talent has increased. no, mir at his best ever in his career would still not be a contender right now. the bike crash set him back and may effect him still but that is not his excuse.
"SHIAT BIOTCH, thats a big ass!"
