    Personally, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see this fight go to the mat!!! Maia is a beast on the ground. I watched some videos today where he beat Gonzaga twice in grappling matches and once by submission. That's about a 70-80lb difference!

      shields has a great top game but no power in his punches. maia has really improved his striking but jake will get the takedown and he will lay on top of maia. i fear a boring fight.

          It was a good BJJ battle. Boring to most I'm sure but the transitions and defense from both fighters was really something to see. Shields' transitions are just freaking RIDICULOUS!!! I don't care what anyone says about him, his BJJ is amazing....especially to have that kind of control over someone like Maia. I mean he would Maia on his back and transition to guard, or hula hoop him around while standing. Sweet stuff!

            TN94Z i agree but shields is the control king. shields just slows everything down like a BJJ match and it so damn boring. wait 3 minutes for 1 nice move.

            i hope they never put him in a main event again.

              He does do that! I honestly figured Maia could hit more sweeps, especially being the bigger fighter. The thing with Shields is that he has just enough standup to setup a takedown. He is really tough when it comes to taking shots too. There aren't a lot of guys that are going to beat him unless they have better wrestling or can explode from the ground.

                sheilds lost that fight and yeah what a boring fight.Dana wont ever put him in a 5 rounder main event again thats for sure.
