    Re: Silva

You know if he actually fought the fight and not showboated he may have won. He was too busy being arrogant and playing around and got caught. At least in his post fight interview he didn't talk shit and gave props where deserved.

      Re: Silva

Arrogance? when your the best for as long as he was.........well maybe confidence? he is always respectful and humble in victory. and arrogant guy would not be so IMO.

fading only works if you move laterally to get out if the guy is pursuing and it does not help when your opponent has the longest reach silva has faced and your hands are down.

it has worked in the past. i personally think he just didn't care. almost like a great weight has been lifted from him. he stated after he did not want to fight for the belt again soon.

i like him. arguably the greatest mixed martial artist...........ever.(yet)

i would have loved to see him with his guard up. he would have had that little shot glance off his glove and he would have continued.

weidman did the right thing, he saw a flaw in anderson's game and capitalized on it. he attacked and caught him. again IMO it was a gimme. anderson beat himself just as much as weidman won

        Re: Silva

I don't think all that showboating during the fight is confidence. I think it is arrogance. Now he is confident about himself but he portrays arrogance when he acts like that in the ring. Until now it hasn't mattered but it finally caught up with him.

You may be right, he doesn't care anymore. Like I said, to his credit he gave props to Weidman for winning and didn't make excuses.

I just didn't see the need for him to act like that. Weidman would have engaged him anywhere unlike Damien Maia and others in past that prompted Anderson to taunt his opponents. I just wish Weidman beat a hands up, all business Anderson. Either way, props to Weidman. Wonder what will become of the super fights?

yeah, ppl are even saying Silva threw the fight on purpose...frankly, if i were to throw a fight, i would not want to take a knockout...i'd rather tap out but who knows..Weidman did very well and i am excited to see him defend the belt

              Re: Silva

I think it's just all about getting in the head of his opponent. He sucked Weidman right into it last night even though Weidman was expecting it. Now Anderson got caught as he took it to a stupid level (doing everything he possibly could wrong with striking). I'm all for the games he plays but last night was just too much.

With that being said, I think Anderson has been bored for some time. He's almost 40, he's been doing this for a long time, he's obviously levels above everyone, etc...I just think he was bored and could care less about it. I think the showboating was also a way out. I mean, if you do those things and then destroy your opponent, then it looks like you are untouchable. If you get caught doing them, like last night, you are left with the excuse of "well, if he hadn't played around, he would have won easily." I just think he wanted out of the title. I don't mean that he threw the fight, I just mean that he didn't care whether he got caught or not. He probably made over 1 million with the loss.

I personally think it will be a good thing. If Anderson accepts the rematch (he says no, Dana says it will happen) then it means that he probably does care and he will come back and make a statement. If not, then it opens the MW division up as I think there are a couple of guys that beat Weidman. Not to mention the title won't be held up as much as it was with Anderson.

My take on the fight....WEIRD!!! Everything about it. From Anderson taking Weidman's punishment in the first, then stuffing Weidman's TDs and the antics obviously got to Weidman quickly. Then Anderson pumps him up in between rounds to seemingly try to build his confidence. Then the beginner mistakes that led to Anderson's KO when he was looking as good as ever with timing and what not....I don't know man. Just really weird. I actually hate to see Anderson lose/Weidman win the title like that. I think it somewhat hurts that "mystique" of Weidman winning the title.

Great win though! Anderson took it to a stupid level and Weidman made him pay. Weidman is a good guy to represent the title.

                Re: Silva

True it's all part of the game. I guess I'd never make it as a 'personality' type competitor. I'm kinda the guy that's all business and respectful. Go in, do my job hard and get out. Show respect for the other guy etc. Probably very little trash talking too. Definitely not good for TV ratings though... lol

                  Re: Silva

Weidman dominated Silva the first round. He definitely let Silva know he was there and he ment business. Arrogance or carelessness, I think it was a little of both , he still got knocked out. I thought he threw the fight to until I watched the knock out punch, it looked soft at first but it definitely connected. A rematch will happen, that's just good business for the UFC. Hard telling how a rematch would go though, If Silvas heart isn't it, I think he will loose again. Weidman would probably be even more determined to prove a point in a rematch just to shut up the nay sayers of the first fright. Silva is like a mechanic on his feet. He learns his opponent and then picks them apart, fast.
