UFC president Dana White believes MMA is safer than boxing andkickboxing. He'll go even further than that when it comes to the safetyof fighters under contract with the UFC.

"It's the safest sport in the world when you know you've got two healthyathletes stepping into the octagon to compete against one another,"White told MMAjunkie.com.

But at the same time, he knows MMA is not exactly safe. And nowherecould its potential danger be clearer than with UFC veteran GaryGoodridge's belief that he suffers from "early onset" chronic traumaticencephalopathy, or CTE, according to a recent diagnosis.

you take big shots with tiny gloves its possible. not like boxing where if your stunned you get to stop and have time to recover to take more blows but still hurts


I have never taken a full power shot with MMA gloves but 18 oz gloves still cause one to see stars upon receipt of punch to the head
