    31/10/11 - Nick Diaz sets new UFC record

    Nick Diaz set a new record at UFC 137.

    According to FightMetric, the official statistics gathering site of the UFC, Diaz now holds the record for ‘Most Significant Strikes’ landed in a single fight.

    He landed a total of 178 ‘significant’ strikes on Penn over the course of their three round battle. Significant strikes are those that are judged to have landed with some degree of impact and so would not include, for example, a glancing blow to the midriff.

    Earlier this month, Nam Phan became the new record holder after landing 174 such strikes on Leonard Garcia. Diaz has now beaten him by four strikes.

    yeah but that first round, BJ was coming in with beautiful combos. he gassed out and a gassed person is much easier to hit than a fresh one. lets see diaz do that vs a guy with good cardio

      True, but Phan did it against a guy that does not defend against shots at all. Nick's performance was WAY better than Phan's. BJ was slower, but not gassed as he has gassed in the past. He was still banging and bobbing and weaving.

      Diaz did the same thing to Daley, Noons, Shamrock, etc...Nick has good boxing...you can't deny that.

        I TRUELY BELIEVE IF BJ HAD CARDIO LIKE GSP'S OR NICKS...HE WOULD BE UNSTOPPABLE.
        NICK DID A GREAT JOB SAT NIGHT NO DOUBT. I JUST WISH BJ COULD GET HIS CARDIO IN CHECK!

                Nick even said after the fight that if BJ conditioned with him he would have won more of his fights.
