  • Fighter payouts

I was just reading some things on another site and fighter payouts were brought up. What do you guys think? Most of us know that many of the lower level fighters are really not making much money at all. I mean, just look at the list I posted earlier from UFC 132. There are fighters on there that trained the same 6-8 weeks or whatever and only made 6k. We think this is just ridiculous with how much the UFC is making.

But look at it from this standpoint. The UFC has their salaries in check. They have been around for how long now? All of these other organizations that have come and gone have tried to pay top dollar to all fighters and they all ran out of money doing so. There is plenty of room to grow within the UFC. But the problem is that you have to win. The UFC can't pay a low level fighter 50k and then he comes in and gets KO'd immediately...that is a bad investment. He must win and perform and then you get paid more. For instance, GSP....in his first fight he made something like 3k to fight and 3k to show. Now he makes like 400k + he gets a % of PPV buys which brings him close to the million dollar mark.

So I guess what I am saying is that all the guys that aren't making mid grade pay here should be motivated to train hard and get the wins....that will drive your pay up.

    Re: Fighter payouts

yeah i agree, the way i see it is minor league baseball players make almost nothing while in the majors they can make 10s of $millions a year.

while they may only make $6K from the UFC they can make almost that again from sponsors. if they fight 3 times they can make $36K at this minimal salary. while this is not alot, a single guy can make it on this while chasing his dream of being a main eventer.
