Mine has always been Bruce Lee. I just loved his style and his philosophy

Re: Who's your favorite Martial Artist

I could never answer that question as a child I engaged in the study of Budo/martial arts- for sport for children- artforms connotate aesthetic value. Martial Arts refer to all forms developed after 1865- when wars and weapons and fighting became outlawed. To me- that means they are all watered down and useless. My experience of attending 110 schools over the past 41 years, gaining expertise in 13. I consider myself a disciple of Bujutsu, ( shuygo (intensive training), but the goal is not by any means the perfection of character but rather preparing the warrior for the eventuality and reality of real life combat with the correct technique being the difference between life and death) a method of war and combat- the training is nothing alike between the two. Anything that uses the dan/belt system is Gendai Budo ( my definition watered down) There is no such thing as self defense. Bruce Lee as a matter of fact did not invent the idea of practicing different methods- that was commonly practiced by the warrior. People that carry on his tradition of Jeet Kune Do actually have raped his whole idea by going against his whole concept of this- by making a stylized format to follow- essentially a half assed complilation of techniques from different styles with no understanding of the basic structure that makes each system work. Karate and Judo develped for sport and for children yet its practiced for self protection when they have never worked in real life. The Gracies learned Judo and now the world believes that they practice jujutsu because the Brazilians have no idea how to transcribe the oriental characters of ,"justu" or "do" Martial Arts the most misused, misguided and misinterpreted phrase in the planet. I personally quiver and shake with disgust every time I read or hear it. The tradition of a warrior was to kill and maime on the battle field. NOT bow, wear goofy clothing and fight in a ring or tournament. Atemi waza or striking and Kansetsu wasa or bone breaking was taught secondary to weapons- because the Samurai or Bushi or Moro Warriors were soldiers- NOT MONKS , NOT FARMERS- those people were peasants in the eye of the warrior and were spit on or cut in two. Do I have a favorite warrior? Minomoto Musashi- highly skilled with the sword and battle strategy.or Takeda Shingen- one of the forefathers of Diato Ryu also made similar observations: "One who was born in the house of a warrior, regardless of his rank or class, first acquaints himself with a man of military feats and achievements in loyalty....Everyone knows that if a man doesn't hold filial piety toward his own parents he would also neglect his duties toward his lord. Such a neglect means a disloyalty toward humanity. Therefore such a man doesn't deserve to be called 'samurai'"

LMAO- HES AN ACTOR- MARTIAL ARTIST? LOL NOT SURE ID SAY THAT- MOVIES ARE ENTERTAINING THOUGH- ARE WE GOING TO STATE OUR FAVORITE SO-CALLED MARTIAL ARTS ACTOR? OR MARTIAL ARTIST/ WARRIOR? ACTOR WISE- STEVEN SEGAL ALL TRE WAY- THE ONLY ACTUAL AUTHENTIC MARTIAL ARTIST ON FILM- FACT - ONLY NON-JAPANESE TO BE AWARDED 10 DAN IN AIKIDO, HOMBU JAPAN IN HISTORY. FOR THE MOST PART MOST THAT ARENT EVEN AIZU CLAN LINEAGE DONT REACH THAT. OPERATED HIS OWN DOJO IN JAPAN, HIS AIKIDO- RESEMBLES ON TV MORE LIKE AIKIJUTSU. HOWEVER I ACTUALLY LOATHE MARTIAL ART MOVIES- THE LAST SAMURAI WITH TOM CRUISE I ACTUALY THOUGH WAS MORE AUTHENTIC THEN MOST. YES TOM ****IN CRUISE LMAO- However most martial art actors arent martial artists and all is unrealistic- kicks, punches - especially the ones that people like to watch arent as effective as people think. Prize Fighters that fight in a ring- are not martial artists or even warriors- they are in a sport- SPORT is not War, pretty kicks and fancy cloths are not war and do not work in war. There is no such thing as sport jujutsu- Even if one looks on the Gracie Websites they acknowledge that they leanred Judo and mistranslated the suffix ,"do" to "jutsu" therfore they have been famous for a style of Judo NOT JUJUTSU. This is what I mean that there are so many myths and fallcies that even seasoned martial artists have no idea what it is. Me personally - I have been in contests, fought in a ring, yet Ive been in a war, been on the streets- When I teach- I teach bujutsu, the worst students I take are black belts in Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Judo, Wushu etc- they may seem fancy to most- but all I see are bad habits being practiced over and over again- so teaching them is to undo all the bullshit they have been taught. Even though Boxing is a sport and Muy Thai- I like the way they move - they have many habits that cross over to real life.
Dr Masaki Hatsumi- 34th Soke of Togakure Ninjutsu - is a favorite martial artist of mine- he tries to maintain the traditions of war, but modifies everything to embrace the modern lifestyles of people in this day and age.
