  • BJ--"Testosterone replacement is Bull****"

Hours after Nate Marquardt's Tuesday explanation for his medical withdrawal at UFC Live, BJ Penn's official Twitter account has labelled testosterone replacement therapy "BS" (bulls***).

The official Twitter account of Penn has not cried foul play against Marquardt directly, but it has called into question the need for Hormone Replacement Therapy in the world of MMA.

"All this testosterone replacement therapy stuff is total BS," read the first tweet. "A true martial artist would never consider cheating.

"Everyone has to come together and get this 'ped' cancer out of our sport. If you can't do it of carbs, fats, proteins and vitamins and minerals you're weak."

Marquardt maintains he merely mistimed his treatment, and he expects to be released from suspension by the Pennsylvania Athletic Commission within the next few days.
I really couldn't have said it better myself. After thinking about the instances of this that have happened and what not, I agree with BJ. I know there are some out there that need it (Joe Rogan is on it for instance), but these guys know what they are doing.

BULLSHIT this isnt cheating men and women might need HRT for there bodies at some point in there age.And wtf does BJ say a true martial artist wouldnt need it,yeah ok BJ mabey you should of took some so we can see you fight 100% all the time

Im with you Bro- first- you know me- They arent martial artists number one- I dont think most people even know what that means. Fighters, warriors should use any advantage they can- thats reality thats combat. Also like you say to compete against younger guys in a sport that requires endurance , physical condition- its called dealing with the aging process. As far as somebody whining about being weak if you do HRT or Test- That guys is weak thats why he whines and cries about it cuz thats all cry babies can do

This is absolutely cheating. I take BJ's comments like this....the way these guys are doing it, is cheating. They are using it to their advantage. Yeah, maybe they need it, but they need to use it correctly and not like they are doing it. And as long as this loop hole is in the system, fighters will learn to exploit it. Therefore, I can see BJ's point about it being BS. He didn't say a true martial artist wouldn't need it....he said that a true martial artist would never consider cheating. At some point, you have to be true to yourself and whether or not "you have it" anymore. With the class of young guys that are fighting now....maybe the older guys whose T is dropping should consider that their time is just done in the sport. It's not a sport of pure martial arts...it's a sport of genetically gifted athletes that are well versed in many disciplines. All things being equal, the bigger, stronger, faster guy is going to win. If you have to use HRT as an excuse to take banned substances just to compete....then you probably shouldn't be there.

I agree that fighters pertaining to warriors and combat and even protecting your life should use any advantage you can. But within a sport with a given set of rules like it is here, "taking" advantage of something like this is ridiculous. If you "medically" need it to get to "normal" range, I guess that is ok. But if your levels are threatening the line of legal and illegal, it is quite obvious that you are pushing the limits for a reason. These guys are stupid...they know exactly what they are doing.

Now with that being said, I don't agree with his weak comment. I understand that some people need this medically and that doesn't make them weak. IMO, though, if guys are "using" this as an advantage over the guys that don't....then I do think that is weak

Personally I agree with a level playing field and the hrt loophole creates an opportunity to exploit legit medical needs some may have. If natty test levels are truly below normal healthy levels, then it might be justified. However, it may prove to be a unfair competitive advantage for those on hrt.

In contrast, if a figher has asthma and uses meds or inhalant to treat the condition... Is that cheating? In a loose way it can be related to the hrt.... Using meds to get their body, stamina, ability to a higher level than natural (untreated) condition

            Re: BJ--"Testosterone replacement is Bull****"

It is not cheating. the commission has a set amount of HRT treatement level they allow these fighters depending on weight and what not. The only reason they get caught is they go over the level but that level can be peanuts and the commission will still say its over you have broken the rules.Ive said this befoe look at chaels body look at nates body in every fight they all look the same, not smaller not bigger.Anyone who hasnt been in this field we are for a number of years just might not under stand that taking HRT is not cheating. If your level came out way off the chart and you gained 20lbs by fight night yeah they took to much but that has never happen . when NATE was 173 down from what 200 so how in the world did he cheat when he lost 20lbs but his test level was still high according to the comission, like I said it must of been off by inches. If anyone isnt on HRT just doesnt know how it works.

So someone is going to tell me that if BOY 1 takes 100mg of cypinate for 10 weeks and BOY 2 takes nothing that by fight time who will win the fight. Please someone answer this please because 100mg of cyp wont do didly for a strength factor or speed factor.it will make mr happy penis happy it will make boy 1 happy feeling better mabey, his nails might be healthier his hair his over all feeling in his body might feel better but that 100mg of cyp wont do cracker jacks for a fighter to fight better stronger faster imo.Now i'll even go 200mg wont do didly. Now 300mg yeah then we are going into a grey area. So unless we have NATES blood work test level and see what it is and see what the commission test level is allowed per body weight then we will know. Buy cheating I think not. Randy is on it and no one ever made a fuss about him and if you look at his fights over the years you can definitly see a change in his body structure as in shape size.

              Re: BJ--"Testosterone replacement is Bull****"

I know nothing about steroids so I can't comment on that portion. My thing is if there is a set range that you must be within and you know it, then your levels test high..you broke the rules. Randy obviously never had levels above the range. You break the rules and it gives you an advantage...that's cheating to me. The last time he failed his test....he wasn't on HRT

come on...............a young guy like marquardt needs HRT?I call BS with BJ. tiny is right. HRT may be a loophole but if marquardt needed HRT its because he came off a cycle and his test was low due to that.

my views on gear have changed drastically since i quit using it and fight train only now.

there is more to this than we know. lots of guys have been popped, sherk, bonner, carwin and they still have jobs. in fact carwin got a slap on the wrist and nothing was really said about it.
