I'll give that one to Guida, if a fighter does it a few times i would feel like you say but he owned his ass in my eyes. Guida was looking for subs and threw some bombs but petis did a great job of not giving the opportunity. Man is Petis can fight off his back, and man can Guida defend. I really enjoyed that fight.

i thought it was a great fight

      pettis struggled going backwards

jeeze i was on the edge of my seat the whole time

greg jackson strategy and discipline at work

pettis might be the fastest fighter in the game right now, some of his moves seemed faster than the blink of an eye

i thought it was a pretty decent fight. its really not that different from Guida's usual fight strategy, grind the opponent down, get him down, lay on him and break his spirit by beating on him. its what makes him successful and draws him lots of fans, but also why you haven't seen him fighting for the belt too.

pettis lost..........................he may be a better fighter and better at offensive BJJ but obviously guida is better at wrestling and his BJJ defense was better than pettis's offense.

i agree that holding a guy down wrestling style is not fun to watch but he definitely beat pettis. i wish they would come up with rules like in japan. takedowns without sub attempts of damage dont count.

unfortunately we are in the era of the wrestler (leg humper)

typical greg jackson play it safe game plan.

i think in a way it should be looked at as how do i beat this guy? originally the ufc/mma world was based on the ultimate fighting style that could beat all others in the Gracie's vision of things. how did Royce do it? by rolling/laying/waiting for his opponent to make a mistake. sometimes boring but victorious. keep in mind HUGE stretch of credibility here but just to illustrate my point of view, not wrong or right, just a point of view. say Dana and Joe Silva said hey BD ur fighting Lesnar in 12 weeks. obviously im not going up toe to toe with his power. i dont have the power to take him down and hold him down for 15 minutes. i dont have the chin to keep taking shots from him so i'm gonna stay outside and keep dropping leg kicks over and over and over til they stop working to slow him down, try to slide in and land a combination or two, just keep earning points to take a decision because im not gonna be able to finish him via submission or KO and i think guida did what he was supposed to do, negate Pettis' crazy kicks, negate his bjj and do what he does, drive people nuts with his conditioning and pitbull like tenacity for never quitting the action. he doesnt have all the tools like a gsp so he HAS to look fir a gameplan to execute to showcase his tools and keep his opponents tools unleashed. gsp just does it out of fear of losing. imo that's the difference between those two. guida put himself at risk in pettis' guard to keep landing shots and grinding. gsp would have danced all night rather than go to the ground with a bjj bada$$.
