  • Brock losing interest in MMA

The chances of seeing Brock Lesnar back inside the UFC's Octagon are apparently dwindling as Dave Meltzer is reporting Lesnar's head isn't in the fight game anymore and he is looking for a way out of his UFC contract.

MMA.tv sums up the report from Meltzer's radio show:

According to Dave Meltzer of Yahoo! Sports/Wrestling Observer, Brock is currently looking for an "exit strategy" from the UFC.

Meltzer said on his radio show that the fight with Velasquez has changed Brock's attitude on fighting and he is at the stage in his life where he doesn't want to get injured. He's very well off financially and the business man in him apparently knows that it may be time to move on.

Meltzer also mentioned that Brock hasn't trained a single day since the Velasquez fight nor he has returned any phone calls to Dana or Zuffa about upcoming matches.

Dave pointed out if Brock was motivated, he would be right back in the gym training and bringing in new coaches with the goal of beating Cain yet he isn't doing that. He's hunting and hasn't even thought about his next fight. Lesnar apparently wants to do WrestleMania "badly" and will earn an estimated 2 million dollars for 30 minutes of work.

Everything is pointing towards Brock having one more fight and ending his contract. His head doesn't seem to be in the fighting game and it looks like it was just yet another successful business move.
Man did I ever call this!! I knew once Brock got beat down, he would be done. The guy quits everything when it gets tough, come on!

I posted this back in October about Brock

Is he tired of being in MMA already? Is he missing the days of scripted theatrical performances? Just remember....he has quite several things in the past on a whim...
He just doesn't have the mindset for MMA. It takes a special breed to compete day in and day out and Brock doesn't have it.

well I guess there goes his "Baddest Man on the Planet" alter ego. Thats really weak. I think he is realizing that it hurts to get hit in the face and that he isnt as tough as he thought he was. I can understand it, I mean hes got money and he doesnt feel like training. I think one day he will look back and be disappointed though that he didnt stick it out but who knows maybe not.

As we all know, stuff goes flying around like crazy, so I will just take this as speculation until Brock or Dana actually come out and say something. But I have always had the feeling that he would give it up once he got beat down

Why would he want to fight when he can make 10 times the money wrestling?

Re: Brock losing interest in MMA

Who knows? Why did he come over in the first place? Why did he try out for the NFL? If he quits MMA now, he will not look good in the eyes of the MMA community.

I agree that he could make more money in wrestling.....but it may not be about the money for him. If it was, he would have came to the UFC in the first place.

Yeah it's hard to tell. The only thing is this guy hasn't been known in the past to spread rumors. Usually when he says something, there is quite a bit of truth behind it.

                But we will see....

I truly hate the media. And if he quits he quits so what who cares its not going to affect anyones life. Its his life he made alot of money and he can move on. Smart move if he did do it like this. He fought he won he lost so what. But like I said speculation right now

Re: Brock losing interest in MMA

Yeah, I know what you mean. They tend to get stuff twisted. But it usually makes for good reads and keeps interest going in the sport.

I would personally think that Brock would have to come back and fight at least one more time because of all of the talk he has done in the past and all the "Baddest Man on the Planet" stuff from Dana. It would make Dana look like a fool to label Brock as the Baddest when compared to Fedor, then Brock gets beat down by a really small HW, and then Brock quits....that would just be a slap in the face to Dana. I bet Dana doesn't let this happen without a fight. I bet on Brock being back next year

oh he can train day in and day out, thats the easy part. but he got his ass beat and showed he is scared to take a punch. thats a mindset thats hard to get over. he was dominated. a person like brock who is used to being the biggest and strongest to be humbled like that takes a toll mentally.

brock realized he did everything in his camp right. his game plan was to try to finish cain quickly as his camp knew cain would win if it went 5 rounds.

he did his best and if this is true, he is not a true warrior

Re: Brock losing interest in MMA

I think it's very obvious that Brock can't take the punches. He has no choice in a fight but to take them, and that's why he has. But every time he gets hit, he immediately goes into defense mode and does nothing unless the round ends or his opponent stops throwing shots. He has not counter shots at all because he is so worried about covering his face up. He gets in the fetal position and allows his opponent to pick and choose what to hit.

As soon as he starts to get hit its like he forgets all about his training. I guess thats something that he hasnt trained for long enough
