kikuno is doing well in dream right now he is a top karate fighter. but pure karate is not good in MMA as the stance is very linear. kicks are fast but lack power of muay thai. punches are again fast but lack the power of a punch that starts with the feet.
most karate guys use their speed and a boxing or thai boxing stance also hold their hands more like a boxer. footwork is also adjusted. my brother is a shodokan black belt a and when we spar he definately hits me but they dont hurt and he moves in and out there is no side to side. i crush his legs with kicks. but then he drops the perfect karate technique and goes "ball of fury" on me"SHIAT BIOTCH, thats a big ass!"
