Georges St-Pierre on Fighting Anderson Silva: “I Don’t Know if That’s Going to Happen”

Although Georges St-Pierre’s Outlook calendar is completely booked up, fan boys worldwide can’t stop asking the UFC welterweight champ when he’s planning on ditching the division most believe he’s already waxed clean in order to challenge Anderson Silva for his middleweight crown.
“I don’t know if that’s going to happen. It’s not on my radar right now. Maybe one day it will be, we’ll have to see what happens,” St-Pierre told TSN.com. “Right now, I’m thinking about Josh Koscheck.
“There’s a lot of guys in my division and I think it’s disrespectful to think about going ahead of these guys because they’re much better than people think and people don’t give them enough credit.”
St-Pierre’s life and career have drastically changed since his first meeting with Koscheck at UFC 74 back in August 2007. Fresh off his highlight reel knockout of former champ Matt Hughes to capture the title, GSP came back in his next outing and laid an egg against Matt Serra to lose his strap.
In hindsight, the upset loss to Serra was a watershed moment for the St-Pierre because he has since morphed into the planet’s baddest welterweight en rout to reclaiming his title. Although he’s rattled off seven straight lopsided victories, with his unanimous decision win over Kos kicking off his current winning streak, GSP hasn’t posted the spectacular finishes that push pay-per-view numbers and build legends.
Don’t worry, he’s fully aware of the negativity that clouds his career and is set to right the ship.
“I have not reached that goal yet,” St-Pierre humbly said. “Every champion has fights that make him a great champion and are highlights.
“I want to have those highlights and some of those fights in my career. Of course, you have to beat the best guys in the sport.”
