  • Carwin goes back to the drawing board

    MAKE SURE OU READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE AND IT SAYS THAT IT WASNT SHANES CARDIO IT WAS DUE TO LACTIC ACID BUILD UP

    It wasn’t a matter of gassing out, unable to breathe; it was a matter of his body literally seizing up, not responding to what his mind was telling it to do. .can_ad_slug {font-family:arial;font-size:11px;color:#555555;text-decoration:none;background-image:url('http://l.yimg.com/d/lib/can_interstitial/icons/adchoice_1.1.png');background-repeat:no-repeat;background-position:right;padding:0px 14px 0px 0px;margin:2px 0 1px 0;float:right;cursor:hand;height:12px;display:bloc k;line-height:12px;}.ad_slug_table a {text-decoration:none;}

    SO NOW SHANE SAYS ITS NOT HIS CARDIO,HOW MANY EXCUSES ARE WE GOING TO HEAR

    Carwin does have Bronchitis now, but Genet says that likely happened as a result of the hardships placed on his body from the fight. He wasn’t ill going into the fight.

    SO NOW AFTER THE FIGHT HE GOT THIS BRONCHITIS,WHAT A CROCK OF SHIT

    Genet says it wasn’t a case of gassing out due to cardio. Carwin’s issue was more on the level of a medical condition

    I CANT BELEIVE I'M READING THIS NOW ALL THE EXCUSES ARE NOPW COMING OUT. HE WAS 100%

    Shane Carwin believes he was just one solid shot away from finishing UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar at UFC 116 last Saturday night. One solid shot from ditching his “fake” interim belt and become the undisputed heavyweight champ.
    One problem, his body didn’t agree with his tactics.
    Carwin went all out for the better part of the first round, but as the opening stanza wound down, so did his body… it started shutting down. It wasn’t a matter of gassing out, unable to breathe; it was a matter of his body literally seizing up, not responding to what his mind was telling it to do..can_ad_slug {font-family:arial;font-size:11px;color:#555555;text-decoration:none;background-image:url('http://l.yimg.com/d/lib/can_interstitial/icons/adchoice_1.1.png');background-repeat:no-repeat;background-position:right;padding:0px 14px 0px 0px;margin:2px 0 1px 0;float:right;cursor:hand;height:12px;display:bloc k;line-height:12px;}.ad_slug_table a {text-decoration:none;}
    “We don’t want it to come off sounding like an excuse. Shane had the 100-percent best camp he’s ever had coming into a fight and it shouldn’t diminish Brock’s victory in any way,” Carwin’s manager, Jason Genet, told MMAWeekly.com.
    “But what happened, what caused the shutdown, was lactic acidosis. It just comes from exploding like he was doing, not properly breathing, and not having your body prepared for it.”
    In laymen’s terms, Carwin was pushing himself to such an extreme in trying to finish Lesnar with his relentless ground and pound that the lactic acid that built up in his muscles reached a level that was too much for his body to handle, thus it started to shutdown.
    Carwin does have Bronchitis now, but Genet says that likely happened as a result of the hardships placed on his body from the fight. He wasn’t ill going into the fight.
    Knowing he was in dire straights the way his body was, Carwin went out in round two to land a fight ending blow and get out of there. While that was noble of him, Genet says there was just no way it could happen.
    “Even though he said he was going out to land a strike, it was over in the corner. Normally in the corner is when your body begins to recover and that wasn’t happening. His body was getting worse.”
    Genet says it wasn’t a case of gassing out due to cardio. Carwin’s issue was more on the level of a medical condition than that, but he does maintain that it is something that can be altered.
    “You can solve that issue with special diet, you can change it with training techniques, and you can train it with supplements,” he said. “We’ve already got a guy that’s gonna be working with Shane to develop some things to help make some training adjustments.”
    He wanted to be clear though, as disappointed as they are that Carwin didn’t walk away with UFC gold around his waist, there are no excuses.
    “It’s not an excuse, as far as Shane is concerned, it’s just another way that you can lose a fight. Brock did what he needed to do and found a way to win. Shane’s just happy that now he knows and can do something to work on it.”

      See this is the stupid stuff that happens. The fighter is saying nothing while some guy (in his camp maybe) is coming out with all this stuff. Do they really think that it is not going to be taken as an excuse? It happened with BJ as well after the GSP fight. BJ was keeping his mouth shut and his camp just wouldn't let the loss go. It made it sound like BJ was crying about the loss when in reality it was his camp saying all of the stuff.

      I'm not saying that this stuff didn't happen to Carwin because there is on way any of us will ever know. But just keep it to yourself because it will taken as an excuse no matter how you say it.

                Re: Carwin goes back to the drawing board

                I dont know why this is some shocker, Carwin went balls to the wall for 3-4 mins and gassed, be it from cardio or lactic acid build up, its all the same in my eyes. You train for this stuff coming into a fight and he should have known that he didnt have the ability to go all out for multiple rounds. Certainly its something he should work on if he wants to be considered the best, as Im sure any of the serious guys are trying to do. The bronchitis thing should be irrelevant though, they should just leave it alone.

                  Oh yea, one of my good buddies played football at UCF and said that some of the guys would get full body cramps during training and would lay on the ground all curled up. They would have to give them an IV and it would be all good in a minute. He said it looked crazy painful.

                    Re: Carwin goes back to the drawing board

                    I don't doubt any of that because I had similar issues in high school football. My point is that it if you come out and say these things after a fight, it will be thought of as an excuse. It doesn't matter what your reasoning for losing a fight, it should never include anything that can be made an excuse. They should have just left it at "he rushed in and made a mistake and trying to finish the fight too quickly." Or he didn't train for rounds like that, or anything that has to do with Shane making the mistake. Anything else will be considered an excuse like he is blaming it on something that was outside of his control. I'm not saying he was making excuses, but these statements can be interpreted that way.

                      Yea i dont understand how guys act they dont know how far they can push themselves? Shouldnt your training include fight simulated events? Imean if he was having lactic acid trouble after 3mins in training doesnt it seem reasonable to assume it will prob affect you in the fight?

                        I agree. The one thing I can see is the adrenaline dump. I can see him being excited about the fight, then when he had Brock in the bad position, I can see his adrenaline going nuts thinking that he was about to beat the champ. They say the arenaline dump in the fights really slows you down. But I don't think it would slow him down like that. I think it was a mix of that and poor cardio and maybe the lactic acid altogether.

                        IMO, I think that Carwin needs to lose some weight. I think maybe Fuzo brought this up in another thread and I agree. I mean, he had to lose 17lbs just to make weight and I don't think his frame is built for that much weight. He could come in around 250 and probably be a much better fighter.
