I do think that Carwin gave up the submission. Now that isn't taking anything away from Brock because Carwin was obviously broken by Brock's performance. I will be one to admit that Brock was hurt. His knees buckled a bit and seemed like he wanted to break out in a chicken dance. There was even one point on the ground when I thought that Brock was about to tap out from strikes. But he toughed it out and that is what a champ has to do.
When I said something about Brock needing to learn to get a hold of his opponents in that position, I don't mean anything bad. He covered up very well, but when that type of fight is going on, you are taking a big chance of the fight being stopped when you are just laying there like that, whether you are covering up or not...you are still taking strikes. Had he known how to get some control (he eventually did tie Carwin up) he wouldn't have taken so much damage.
