  • Shogun had major surgery 2 months before UFC 113

The rumors about Shogun's injury were incorrect, but he was not 100% for tonight's fight against Lyoto Machida. Shogun came down with Apendicitis a few months before the fight, and had to undergo major surgery. The procedure was kept under wraps, but Shogun confirmed it tonight on MMA Live.

According to UFC sources, the UFC was prepared for the worst case scenario. It was rumored earlier this week that the company had Randy Couture ready to step in to fight Lyoto Machida incase Shogun could not fight.
Notice that Randy was ready to step in.....He will be getting a shot after Toney

Why? let Anderson fight Machida then Shogun if he wins, or straight to Shogun. I heard Machida said he would fight Anderson.

Well, Machida's dad said that they needed to fight and I think that Machida hinted around that he would if Anderson would. But Anderson is the one that says he will not do it.

I think Machida needs to now (fight Anderson) to get right back into the spotlight. I just dont understand letting Randy fight for the belt. I just dont think he has done enough to warrant a title shot right now.
