GSP completely dominated the fight in every aspect and from every position. To say he is a boring fighter is completely absurd. He worked the ground and pound and also stuck hardy in submission after submission that pretty much any other fighter would have tapped on. You have to remember it's not GSP's problem to keep the fight standing that's hardy's and to be honest i still think GSP could stand with him but why would he when he can take him down and make him look like he is fighting an low level fight not a championship contender.


rc10j1 please do a little research before you make comments like that. Joe rogan is the host for a reason. Do you really think that they would just hire a TV personality to host all of the UFC fights. Also i do believe Joe is about 190 pounds and is in very good shape.

I guess boring is a bad word. I don't find GnP boring because I understand that's his gameplan and that he is executing it to perfection. I just don't think he is fighting like P4P material. If Hardy was that much worse than GSP and that much of a lower level fighter, then GSP should have finished him. Anderson, BJ, etc.....finishes their opponents that aren't on their level.

as has been said, gsp fights to win. he isnt in there to be entertaining per se. he knows his opponents strengths and works to negate that. unfortunately as anderson silva learned by not playing to his opponents strengths and forcing them to get off the mat and fight him which dude wanted no part of, the fans especially at the venue liquored up and booing doesnt make dana white happy. booing live fans and low ppv buys when fighters who fight safe headline the card are going to dictate who stays popular in the ufc. they were talking about a possible gsp/spider fight. wow what a staring contest fight that would be. i think it would be boring as hell. neither would want to lose so neither would come out swinging.

The difference with Anderson is that if you start stalling and don't bring the fight, he will get more and more aggressive and bring the fight to you no matter what. He has amazing standup and his ground game is great. Lutter is one of the best BJJ practicioners in the world and Anderson submitted him with 2 bad knees.

Anderson would be the one that would time a knee on one of GSPs takedowns and lay him out. I can't understand why no one has tried that. I know that GSP's takedowns are fast, but they should be able to time a knee eventually.

Some will say the fight wasnt boring and some will say its boring.who wants to watch a wrestling match when we all want to see fights from champions not i'll just take you down. like tnz said someone will catch Gsp in the face with a knee soon.forget about gsp being the best p4p fighter that wont happen.until he starts standing and banging his legacy will say he wouldnt stand with fighters.True champions stand with you,like silva and bj who have the all around game plan.Atleast bj comes out and wants to stand up and doesnt have to take you down to win.

I love impeccable technique! No, he is trying to finish the fights, it's just that he can't. He is not at the P4P top level IMO. He is not doing anything that many other fighters have done.

he is superior in his technique by far and dosnt make mistakes.

i will say dan hardy must have some torn ligaments to have withstood those subs. when is the last time you have seen a guy apply an armbar so perfectly. dan hardy is tough, flexible and would have let them break while trying to escape. i bet 9 out of 10 other 170# fighters would have tapped

Well, if you watch Hardy's wrist, you will notice that he turns his wrist which took pressure off of the elbow. Granted many would have tapped right there, but experienced BJJ practicioners probably would not have. Initially it was very tight until he turned his wrist which gave him more time. Regardless of that, GSP is just not P4P number one, and will not be until he can some how manage to win fights in an Anderson Silva fashion. Like I said, GSP is doing nothing more that Matt Hughes did in his hay day.

I have be involved in MMA since I was a kid and the UFC since I was a freshman in High School, so I understand all there is to understand about the game. I am by no means saying that GSP didn't dominate the fight, or that GSP is not good. I am just saying that he shouldn't be considered for number P4P and that he really isn't doing much more than other fighters have done in the past.
