  • Rashad vs Rampage is postponed!!

    The speculation is over.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (30-7 MMA, 5-1 UFC) will not be fighting Rashad Evans (13-1-1 MMA, 8-1-1 UFC) at UFC 107 in December.

While the potential for Jackson to withdraw from the event has been discussed for weeks, Evans today confirmed in an interview with Bruce Buffer that the fight has been delayed until at least 2010.

The interview aired on today's episode of "It's Time" on the Sherdog Radio Network.

"It's definitely off for the 12th," Evans said. "It's just disappointing because as a fighter you get your mind wrapped around when you're going to have to fight. Then you kind of just gear up toward it and put everything in place for that time. You take care of a lot of things you need to take care of so when you're in camp you don't have to worry about it. To find out its not going to be happening when you want it to happen is always a little bit of a letdown."

While multiple outlets have reported on the potential for Jackson to take on the role of B.A. Baracus in a feature version of "The A-Team," Evans said until recently he believed it wasn't going to happen.

"I heard a little bit about it at the last UFC, 102, and (UFC president) Dana (White) said he was working to resolve the issue, and he was pretty confident that he was going to have some kind of resolution by the end of the week," Evans said. "But then things must have took a turn for the worse and it wasn't going to be resolved. The end result was him definitely pulling out."

While White made his feelings on the subject obvious at a pre-UFC 102 press conference, Evans echoed the sentiments that fighters should stick to what they do best.

"I would stick with my obligations to do the fight (if I was in the same situation)," Evans said. "I know that he has an amazing opportunity to do this acting role, but then at the same time, at the end of the day he's still going to be just a fighter. He's not going to be an actor."

As opposing coaches on the upcoming tenth season of "The Ultimate Fighter," Evans and Jackson were supposed to clash at the conclusion of the series. Evans said he still believes his next fight will be with Jackson, he's just not sure when it will be.

"I'm pretty positive that it's going to be my next fight," Evans said. "They haven't nailed down any dates, but they did say it was going to be after the New Year. I think they were waiting to speak with Quinton's guys and find out exactly when exactly he feels he should be ready. They just want to get it done and over with, and they're just trying to work with him and see what they can do."
If I was Dana, I would be furious. I mean Dana got Rampage's butt out of that hit and run crap and now Rampage is blowing the UFC off! I mean, the only reason they were coming to Memphis is because that is Jackson's hometown. If he skips out on this fight and doesn't fight in Memphis, I will never pull for him again.

Yeah I can see why everyone can be pissed but fighters have to think about there future and this is a big role movie for him.You cant pass up movies that pay more then fights do. hopefuly it can be worked out but if it cant i'm in favor of him doing this movie and looking out for his future. Fighters need a way out when there time is done or getting injured early. tn94z just think of his future for his family and movies are the way for fighters who are getting older.

I can agree with that part, but you have to stick with prior commitments too. What if this pissed Dana off to the point of dropping Rampage over it? Then Rampage's "acting" career belly flopped? Then what about his future? Don't bite the hand that feeds you is my thinking in this situation. I mean no movie is shot from beginning to end all in one session. It seems to me like he could make both things work out if he really wanted to. I think he owes the UFC, in particular Dana, too much to brush them off for a movie that will probably suck.

Well here is the problem...if he does this, he will cost the UFC a lot of money. If Rampage has fights still on his contract, the UFC can keep him there and just stall him out like they did Huerta and Arlovski. Then he can't go fight anywhere else and he won't be fighting in the UFC. If Dana wants to screw him over this, then he easily can.

I don't think he will but he can. Oh I loved the A-Team, but it seems like when they make a movie like this, it is never the same. Anyway, my point is that Rampage will probably not have an acting career after this movie. Too many have tried it in the past.

I wish him all the luck in the world, but he made plans with the UFC first, he should honor those and then go movie chasing.

They may be making money, but they are not top actors by any means. Look at some of the corny ass roles that the Rock has played in....

Don't get me wrong though. I could care less if he wants to act, that is good as far as I am concerned. I just think that it's BS that he isn't upholding his part of the fight. All he says is "I want my belt back, I want my belt back" Bull S***! He had the chance to fight Lyoto and wouldn't fight him. Then he told Dana he wanted to fight Rashad, so Dana set that up. Then he told Dana that he wanted to fight in his hometown, so Dana set that up. Then he said he wants to be a coach on TUF and Dana made that happen.

Now, he says, I need to back out of all of that (except TUF because it has already been taped) to play a part in a movie. You can't tell me that the movie deal happened over night. There had to be talk of him having a part for a while now. He should have enough respect to stick to his obligations.

What if Brady had the Superbowl to play in a month, and he comes up to the coach and says "Hey man, I need to skip the Superbowl, I am going to play a role in a movie because I think I am an actor now." How do you think that would fly?

I honestly think Rampage knows that he has nothing left for the LHWs of today and he doesn't want to lose his rep. I think he is afraid that Rashad will beat him now that he has run his mouth so much.

GSP, Anderson, BJ, Liddell, Huerta, and there are others have all made movies....but have they skipped any fights?
