Re: Phil Baroni signs with the UFC

Baroni looks like a body builder, hes def still juiced out of his mind, and I dont think GSP would have any trouble with him, look at how easy he handled Alves. Alves is a better Baroni. And btw Alves is bigger than GSP. I honestly think that GSp would beat forrest at 185. A catch weight fight with GSP and Silva might be intresting or silva may just win easily, never know. I guarantee GSP would look better than Forrest did though. Just because GSP got caught in one fight doesnt give him a weak chin, he got stuck by someone who throws bombs and didnt go down, he was stunned though and took a beating. He may not have an iron chin, but its not glass. Silva has been submitted 2 times, that doesnt make him suspect on the ground does it?

GSP would kick Lutters ass all over the mat, are you kidding me?

Also, GSP would win the ground game against Silva.. hands down.. GSP's wrestling is WORLD CLASS

You guys are nuts man!!! Are we talking about the same guy that got KO'd by Serra? Give me a break. I like GSP as much as the next guy but there is no way he beats Forrest!!! Everyone said that Alves was bigger than GSP, but the night of the fight that wasn't true. GSP put on some good muscle before that fight, so he pretty much nullified Alves' size. I agree that GSP would look better than Forrest. Hell, I could put up a better fight than that!!! GSP has a suspect chin. It was just in one fight. Go watch all of his fights. He has been rocked quite a few times. Didn't go down???Serra? Serra knocked him on his ass man. And then he tapped out from strikes....from strikes!! He has only been submitted on the ground once by triangle. The second submission was a flying scissor hook....that really had nothing to do with his ground game. But since you asked, Anderson's ground has been questioned quite a bit. It is the weakest part of his game.

GSP has nothing on Lutter as far as grappling goes. Lutter is one of the best grapplers in the world man.

GSP wrestling may be world class, but his BJJ is not. I don't think GSP would get Anderson down and if he did, Anderson would nullify it. GSP's wrestling is no where near as good as Henderson's Grecco Roman Wrestling and look what Anderson did with him.

You guys are really building GSP up to way more than he is. GSP has no chance against Silva. If GSP moves up to 185 and walks through Marquardt, Almeida, Gouveia, Okami(HAHA!!, yeah right), Quarry, etc...then we can talk. Anderson moved up to 205 and walked through two guys. Let's see GSP do the same and then MAYBE your arguments will make a little sense.

Again GSP got rocked 1 time and didnt go down right away, he got hit cleanly a dozen times and was not KOd. Serra hits hard as hell even though he isnt overall that good of a fighter whether you want to admit it or not. Plus, if I remember correctly that first shot actually hit him in the back of the head. Guarantee GSP beats Forrest at 185, Forrest isnt that good, although that fight would never happen. GSP could go up to 185 and do very well, title holder not sure. His main prob I think would be his size. Everyone talks about how big he is, but he is only 5'10. Silva is 6'2 and has a great long frame with good reach so could easily go from 185 to heavy weight and not have a huge size difference. Its the same reason why BJ cant dominate in the 170s and would look like a kid in the 185s.

It only took 1 time to finish it. He didn't go down immediately because of the infamous chicken leg dance he was doing before he fell. You are right...he didn't get KO'd. He QUIT! From a LW fighter at best...and this comment just tells me that Serra has no power. Serra was a very below par fighter, a washed up hack if you will and he beat GSP easily. OMG..there are the back of the head comments. If GSP could go to 185 and do well, then why doesn't he? He needs to do it to make a legitimate run for P4P. Otherwise, he is an over sized WW that wins because of his size. Everyone talks about how big GSP is because he is so much bigger than everyone at 170. Pretty good point to back up their arguments, don't you think?

Whatever, Serra is a bum but can still hit hard. BJ is now bigger than everyone in the LW division doesnt mean he should go up to WW and have a decent career. Why not stay and dominate your respective weight class? GSP could go up to MW and do well, but maybe hes not ready, who knows. Up until now he has been fighting people that everyone thought were as good as him, no bums really.

For a guy that so much power, GSP is the only one that he has beaten by TKO. Add that to the fact that he didn't have enough power to finish a rocked GSP, and that tells me that he doesn't hit too hard. Can you imagine what would happen if GSP was rocked like that with Anderson? He would have put him in a coma. You are right, BJ shouldn't move to WW. But if everyone wants to declare GSP as P4P number one, then he needs to prove it by moving up and running through some guys. Otherwise, he should never be ranked higher than Anderson. And if everyone wants to say that GSP could beat Anderson, then he needs to move up and prove it by beating Anderson. That is all I am saying. I am all for staying and dominating your respective weight class, but I think that should take you out of P4P ranking talks, when the guy you are competing with for the number one spot, moves up and wins easily. GSP could go to MW and beat the lower level guys, I agree. BJ could go to WW and beat those lower level guys too. He hasn't been fighting people that everyone thought was as good as him. He has just been fighting the guys that get on a winning streak and work their way up....otherwise, there wouldn't have been any under dogs. He hasn't fought any bums since Serra, I agree. BJ hasn't fought any bums. Anderson hasn't fought any bums, etc...

Like I said in the other thread, we could go back and forth about this forever and I don't want to seem like a d*** so lets just agree to disagree

Re: Phil Baroni signs with the UFC

I agree mostly. I think Anderson is the P4P best as of now. I also think he has the best frame to make those jumps between weight classes. And for the last time, I dont think GSP would move up and beat Silva, I think he COULD beat him, meaning he is good enough that if Silva slipped GSP could get a win. Its really the same way i feel about BJ fighting GSP, BJ may not win but obviously is good enough too if GSP was not fully prepared. I think this debate is dead by now.

GSP'S LAST SUBMISSION WAS BACK IN 2007 (1) MATT HUGHESSubmission (Armbar) THEN BACK IN 2005 (1) FRANK TRIGGSubmission (Rear Naked Choke).EARLY IN HIS CAREER HE USED MORE SUBMISSIONS NOW ITS EITHER A DECISION OR STRIKES.SO WHAT MAKES A FIGHTER BE THE BEST P4P, STRIKE STOPPAGES OR SUBMISSIONS.SOME HERE THINK GSP IS THE BEST P4P AND SOME THING BJ IS THE BEST P4P FIGHTER.

GSP LIKES TO STRIKE YOU NOW TO WIN AND BJ USES HIS BJJ TO WIN.WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER BETTER IN THE EYES OF BEING THE BEST P4P

Re: Phil Baroni signs with the UFC

In my eyes, best P4P is all around game. A fighter that beats guys everywhere. If a fighter moves up in a weight class and wins then that should give him a big edge over anyone else that only fights in their respective weight class. Whether the other fighter is "built" to move up or not. That is not the other fighter's fault. Now if Anderson was fighting at both weight classes then one could make a case that GSP and Anderson are close...but since he does, I don't think there is a comparison yet. Anderson hasn't been beaten in the UFC and GSP has. I guess everyone sees it differently, but I think you have to take the weight classes into consideration
