not impressive in itself? Not to mention he has fought all of the top lightweights and only lost once... and the reason he lost that fight was because a massive cut he put on Sherk was bleeding into Florians face throwing off his game..

It is just BJ hating. The only thing that the haters can comment on is BJ's cardio. When in actuality, his cardio has never been an issue in his fights. I keep trying to get someone to list the fights where BJ's cardio was an issue, but I never get a response.

I said it before and I will say it again....Kenny was WAY OVER RATED!! He had beaten no one other than Stevenson and Stevenson handed him that choke on a silver platter. BJ will do the same to Diego as well. Diego will really play into BJ's game plan.

Well, Kenny is starting to make excuses but then doesn't call them excuses. He said he was repeatedly poked in the eye in that fight...so bad that he is going to see a doctor. Kenny's brother says that "BJ is notorious for these illegal strikes." How many fighters in the UFC have "not" been poked in the eye? Get over it Kenny, if it really happened, that's one of the issues with the fingers being exposed. I wonder if this was before or after all of the bear like scratches that Kenny put all over BJ?

Kenny needs to let it go....everyone knew that he wasn't on BJ's level and it showed.

Didnt you guys watch the fight... Kenny complained to the ref about it DURING the fight.. you could hear it.. and he did say its not an excuse...

Have you guys ever heard of the term "Win with class"? I guess not.. BJ won.. get freaking over it already...geeez

Eye pokes are the nature of the beast. If it had really been happening, the fight would have been stopped. Win with class? How long did we have to hear about GSP? Over rated? Come on man? It's one thing to be a hater...it's another to not make sense. There is obviously no one at 155 that can stop him. How can he be over rated? Consistency? How many fight as he won in a row at 155?

Kenny Florian received a "couple eye pokes" during his UFC 101 loss to UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn earlier this month.

In fact, because of some flurry vision he's still experienced since that Philadelphia fight, he's seeing a doctor today to assure he sustained no serious injuries.

But as the UFC veteran and longtime lightweight contender today told MMAjunkie.com Radio (MMAjunkie.com Radio | MMAjunkie.com), he doesn't blame the loss on the eye pokes and said Penn "deserved the win."

In an interview with FightHype.com, Keith Florian, the trainer and brother of Kenny, said the fighter got poked in the eye and that Penn is "notorious" for the illegal strikes. He pointed to Penn's previous fights with Georges St-Pierre and Matt Hughes as examples.

Kenny Florian, though, was much more diplomatic when asked if he was poked by Penn.

"I got a couple eye pokes, but that happens I guess," Florian said. "I don't want to use that as an excuse, though.

"I have a doctor's appointmemnt today to make sure the eye is OK."

After taking some time off after the fourth-round submission loss to Penn in the UFC 101 main event, Florian (11-4 MMA, 9-3 UFC) returned to training yesterday for the first time. However, he was still having problems with his sight and decided to see a doctor.

"I had some blurry vision," Florian said. "I just want to make sure there's no trauma to the eyeball itself. ... I'm confident there shouldn't an issue."

Of course, the obvious question is whether Florian thinks the eye pokes were intentional. In a combat sport with open-finger gloves, accidental eye pokes happen often and are an accepted danger of the game. Intentional eyes pokes, though, are a different matter.

So does Florian think they were intentional or accidental?

"I'm going to go ahead and say there were accidental," he said.

In fact, Florian complimented Penn and his game-planning numerous times. The term Florian used most often was "execute" when explaining why he fell short in his second quest for the UFC's lightweight.

"I was just off," said Florian, who also suffered a unanimous-decision loss to Sean Sherk for the vacant title in 2006. "It was an off night, and B.J. was on. ... He deserved the win. It was as simple as that.

"I was definitley disappointed. It was a tough few days after that event. I've got to say I didn't do what I should have done. ... I couldn't get my timing, couldn't get my range going. I couldn't execute. But I don't want to sit here and come up with excuses."

Florian, who trained with St-Pierre for this fight and said he will continue to do so for future bouts, hopes to get back in the octagon soon. He said the nine-month layoff between the Penn fight and his previous one (a first-round submission win over Joe Stevenson in November at UFC 91) was difficult to work through and that he doesn't want to be sidelined that long ever again.

"I want someone tough for my next fight," Florian said. "I want to fight every three or four months. I don't want to experience that lull (between fights) again.

"Hopefully I get a few wins against some tough guys and I can get right back there and fight for the title again."

It's funny how Kenny will state the excuse and then turn around and say, "I'm not making excuses." He acts like it's not that big of a deal...if it wasn't that big of a deal, then why bring it up? I'll tell you why....he wants everyone to talk about it. He wants everyone to think that he might have had a chance and he is trying to justify himself being of the 155 division. I hate to say it Kenny....you are about to go on a losing streak. You really were over rated to begin with bud.

I know we all here debate but shiznick i'm starting to think you no nothing about fighters and mma and what not.kenny complained about being hit in the back of the head and if he did get poked in the eye where was he rubbing it and what rounds. because I watched the whole fight again before I made this post and shiz your full of shit that if he did get poked it really hurt him or messed up his game plain.how about this,his corner men were yelling out what to do 1's and 2's and BJ caught on and knew what kenny was ging to do.kenny lost fair and square he got beat by a much better fighter.Bj Penn is the prodigy the best 155 ever to fight at that weight class. and he held the belt at 170. has gsp held a belt at a different weight class,nope

whers gsp's other belt he held in a different weight class, where is it. Bj held 2 why hasnt gsp done it. I know why fighters like franklin or hendo would wipe the floor with gsp. then silva would have to put a ass beating on gsp
