    Matt hughes

    didnt get to see the fight but how did he do. I know he won but how good was he and is he still a contender. and I saw serras intrview he kept saying he won the fight. also was it the head blow from serra that kncoked down matt or a punch

      Honestly he is not a contender. He does the same old stuff....not going to work any more. The head butt hurt him but Serra did back it up with some punches. It's hard to say which one was the cause of him getting rattled. He doesn't want to contend. I would be surprised if he fights anymore. His contract is up.

        after seeing the fight last night when I looked it up it was the head butt that did that,then serra threw some punches.But serra couldnt finish.

        So is serra finished then also. If highes beat serra then you could say hes not a contender,right. I think hughes neds better stand up skills better boxing. there were a couple times last night when he threw some jabs that looked good and connected

          Well, it all honesty I think Serra could do better than Hughes. Hughes is stuck at 170. There is no way he is going to compete at 170, for a title...there are still guys he can beat and make money, but no title run.

          Serra can go to 155. Serra's standup has really gotten better and his ground game is worl class. Those two things put together make a good fighter.

          I don't know that either guy will continue, but it just sounded to me like Hughes didn't want to in his post fight interview. Serra seemed like he still wanted to fight.

            Hughes said he would prolly retire no matter the outcome. He wants to spend more time with his wife and daughter.
            Ive always liked Matt and he seems like a class act IMO.
            I like em both but at their age its time to coach.....

              I THOUGHT HE BARELY MADE THE WIN...SERRA HURT HIM EARLY WITH A PUNCH TO THE GUT IT LOOKED LIKE

              SERRA WAS ABOUT TO CRY AT THE END THOUGH!! HAA! HE DID TALK TO MUCH SHIT!

                    O2 IT WAS A HEAD BUTT THAT LANDED AND THATS WHY HUGHES WENT DOWN.                         Hmmmmmm....guess he changed his mind. He said last wk that he knows at his age and 50 fights that its time to hang em up....BUT....when ya get a big win like he got, things can change....

                          He has been saying for 6 months that he wanted a rematch with those guys. That is why Joe Rogan brought it up. If Hughes had said it was time to hang up the gloves, then Joe Rogan would have brought that up after the fight. But I do think he is done. He is not the same Hughes and the competition is MUCH better than it was when he was winning.
