Despite rumors that BJ Penn was considering retirement directly before or after his brutal, slippery loss against Georges St. Pierre on Saturday, BJ Penn has updated his Facebook page with a message that he'll "for sure" be facing Kenny Florian in his next fight, possibly in June. (This follows a previous Facebook comment where Penn wrote "gsp was a bit greased but that takes nothin away from him at all he was the better guy!") Florian last fought at UFC 91 in November, where he scored a first-round submission victory over Joe Stevenson. So, he'll have to make a choice that's now all-too-familiar — take a long layoff and wait for BJ to be ready in the summer, or risk his #1 contender status with another place-holder bout.
And just to keep you up to speed on "Lubegate"...
— Currently retired fighter Jason "Mayhem" Miller has gone on the UG to re-publish one of his old Fight! Magazine columns where he called out one of his past opponents for greasing during a fight. The implication is that he was writing about GSP. As Miller writes, "Would it have made a difference if he wasn't greased up? Maybe, but honestly probably not. He was the better man that night, plain and simple. He bent the rules, not broke them, and when you get away with it, it isn't called cheating...When your livelihood depends on whether or not your hand is raised at the end of the night, you'll work the system to achieve that end result."
— Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer is fairly pissed off at Phil Nurse:
“I told [St. Pierre's cornermen] I was disappointed and that they may have tainted Mr. St. Pierre’s victory,” he said. “I told them if it happens again, it will probably be the last time they work a corner in Nevada. Basically, they said, ‘Look, we’re sorry. We’re not trying to do anything. It was an accident.’ Whether it was intentional or not, I don’t know. It was improper.”
Kizer also told the Las Vegas Review Journal, "This doesn't necessarily take away his victory, but it takes away from his victory, and that's unfortunate. I told them unfortunately, because of their actions, they have probably tarnished St. Pierre's victory in the eyes of the fans."
— Greg Jackson to Sherdog: “I’m sure [St. Pierre] wouldn’t mind fighting B.J. a third time if they’re that concerned about it. I’m sure everybody would make a lot of money, and we’d certainly welcome that fight again.”

Very interesting that Mayhem pointed out the same thing years ago
