So how do they measure a fighters reach ? both arms ?

I agree with mtnmedic but now they do measure from armpit to fingertip or armpit to closed fist to ensure they get an accurate measure of reach in case an athlete has a wide upper body.A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have. -Thomas JeffersonComment

in ufc when they say there reach its tip to tip, which should usually be your hight. So, you can tell if a fighter has a above or below average reach if its higher or lower than there hight. Ex, a 6' fighter should have ~ a 72" reach.Comment
