  • Alves/GSP???

What do you guys think about this matchup? I think that GSP will have a tough fight on his hands and with him having a suspect chin...I can see Alves taking him out.

      Re: Alves/GSP???

My thinking is that GSP will have a hard time getting Alves down. Alves has really been training take down defense. Kos is one of the best in the business at getting opponents to the ground and he had no luck. Also, GSP doesn't exactly have very good head movement and becomes an easy target for strikes. As quick and powerful as Alves is, that could spell disaster for GSP. Not to mention Alves has great Muay Thai. GSP's only chance is to get it on the ground and submit Alves.

GSP did recently obtain his Black belt in BJJ.

THAT WOULD BE A GOOD FIGHT TO WATCH! GSP HAS STEPPED HIS GAME UP BEFORE THOUGH!! HE CAN DO IT!

I would love to see that fight. It all really just depends on where the fight takes place in my opinion. If its on the ground GSP but if they stand and bang Alves wins.

Hopefully BJ beats GSP and then I will get to see him and Alves go at it instead!

GSP is one of my favorite fighters...but BJ IS my favorite fighter. That is why I can't wait to see it!! I really like them both and it is going to be a war. The only thing that BJ has lacked in the past has been cardio. GSP has lacked heart, has a suspect chin, and seems to make more mistakes. GSP is a more flashy fighter with his strikes but I think that BJ is more solid.

When I say that I mean like after the Serra loss. GSP made every excuse in the book for his loss. He changed his story every day about that fight. He actually questioned himself after that. So that made me question his heart....more from a mental side of things. I guess mental would have been a better statement than heart.

GSP is a more technical fighter. his strikes arent hammers like alves's but they are sharp and accurate.

i think he will be able to stay out of alves's power with crisp jabs and front kicks to keep distance.

GSP has shown he can take badass wrestlers down with ease although alves has good defense.

should be a good fight but it could get boring if GSP tries to maintain distance and counter and shoot on a few opportunities
