    GSP vs Anderson may happen at catch weight!!

    At a recent press conference in Chicago for UFC 90 Dana White hinted at the possibility of a match up between UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

    "(Anderson Silva) could meet Georges St. Pierre at a catch weight," said White. "This guy wants to challenge himself. He'd probably fight at 145 pounds if we asked him to."

    This comes from the recents new that the much anticipated fight between BJ Penn and GSP will not take place within the year and anytime soon.
    If GSP can't be ready for BJ this year, how is he going to be ready for Anderson? I think he is dodging BJ.

      Hope BJ beats him and I dont think he will fair much better goin up to fight Anderson...he should stay at WW

        LOL, yea right, why would he dodge BJ? That doesn't make any sense. Silva is a way better fighter than BJ anyways, so I think it might be a good fight for St Piere.

          VERY smart move by the UFC...... Fighting at the catch weight means that BOTH keep their titles after the fight is over... Im scared for GSP on this one... Silva is WITHOUT A DOUBT the best fighter in the world, at ANY weight class

            GSP has one fight left on his contract. If he fights BJ and loses then he loses his belt and has to bargain his new contract without it. If he fights Anderson at a catch weight then he keeps his belt regardless. He will have more bargaining power with the belt.


            But I just read that it looks like they have finalized a fight between GSP and BJ for January, so I don't think that GSP will be fighting Anderson. I have heard another rumor that if Anderson wins against Cote and Liddell wins against Rashad then Anderson may move up and fight Liddell at 205 at the New Years Eve event.

              Awesome...GSP would get beat by Silva. BJ will be a good challenge for him.

              Chuck will get beat easily by Silva!

                    Okay, after I posted this, I read yesterday afternoon that GSP and BJ is all but signed for January. So it looks like the Anderson GSP isn't going to happen. We will see. As for Liddell and Anderson....I don't know man. I hate to bet against Anderson, but I think Liddell is the bigger man with more KO power and is a very good kick boxer. Plus he is a counter striker that Anderson has not faced yet. That one is tough.

                      I think that fight would depend strickly on Chuck... if he REALLY REALLY dedicates himself to HARD training with no distractions and takes it like the toughest fight of his career (which it probably is), then he stands a pretty good chance

                        I agree. I honestly think that Chuck will win, but I am sure that I am in the minority. I don't think Anderson has the power like the guys Chuck has faced before. Chuck is bigger and is a very good counter striker. I really like Anderson, but I just wouldn't know about this fight. I'll put it this way...I won't be betting any money on it.
