That was kind of the idea. If you know tito doesn't have **** except the ground and pound, you stay out of range of the takedown. he had some nice punches and elbows when he and tito went to the ground in 2nd. and that knee in the third was **** SWEET. Lyoto is for real. These guys in mma all want to talk sh it about how karate fighters can't hang with them. He is proof that a PROPERLY trained karate man has the tools to dominate. work on your ground game for sure but karate based with a good ground game is hard to beat. Rogan always comments about how Machida's kicks are so good because they aren;t telegraphed, stealth like he calls them. DUH, isn't that the point. Every mma guy i have seen wind up for that big back leg roundhouse to the head never lands. the opponent sees it coming from last tuesday and is well out of range and the kicker make a big circle after his kick misses. i always wonder why when the kicker has his back turned after that miss that the opponent doesn't take his back. we work that all the time in our dojo, some dude throws a loopy kick we either enter while hs back is turned and take down and finish or help the kick around and eneter for the choke. what are these dudes waiting for? the dude to throw ANOTHER kick at them??

I wanted Tito to win simply for the nostalgic effect i guess! ...i remember Tito from the days of old and he has been one of the faces of the UFC for years and now he is gone forever...

Machida did fight somewhat of a boring fight i thought but i think it was his plan to strike and avoid so he DID get the job done. I personally like both forrest and rampage so hopefully machida will get thrown in with silva and liddel and they can all kick the crap outta each other while the winner of the rampage forrest fight sits on top of the world at 205lbs

BTW the triangle/armbar was beautiful and would've made my night if he would have tapped machida but the fella is pretty tough and made it through it.

$44.95 was all worth it after BJ kicked Sherks ass tho

Some of the guys I watched the fight with didnt like Machido's style either... I thought he fought a great fight and was a lot more active them Tito was.. just because someone is backing away and not advancing doesnt mean that they arent active... he was landing a LOT more shots then Tito was and was obviously much quicker, he was agressive at the right times...

Sure, I would have loved to see them stand toe to toe, I think thats what everyone wants to see.. but he fought a smart fight and came out with the win

he made tito his *****. the diff between him and that canadian guy that ran from nate quarry is machida attacked canstantly while backing up.

from a technical standpoint it was a perfect fight

I know this will make some guys mad but I have read soo much about Lyoto running. The guy did not run, he is just so quick at evading. I personally think Lyoto executed a perfect gameplan against a slow GnP fighter. Tito had no chance as I said before the fight. Lyoto is too technical and too smart. Kalib Starnes ran...Lyoto fought a good fight. Why should he stand toe to toe with a guy that is known for takedowns? If I am in the ring and I am fighting a guy like Tito, I would have done the same thing....I could care less about some guy that paid 45.00 and wants me to get in a slugfest. This is MMA, not boxing. That is the whole point of MMA. If Tito can't adapt and find a way to win, then more power to Lyoto. Too many people have gotten in the mindset that there is supposed to be face bashing, amazing KOs, etc...when that is just not what the sport is about.
