Somebody is going to take the fall for the Bears' fall from grace. Offensive Coordinator Ron Turner, who's in the final year of his contract, appears to be at the front of the firing squad. Turner isn't the only guy who might be part of a massive turnover at Halas Hall.
CBS 2's Megan Mawicke reports that after missing the playoffs for a third straight year, it's pretty grim at Halas Hall. So much, that all the talk Wednesday wasn't about the Ravens, but if they expect personnel changes next year.
"I think there will be. What three seasons like this, it is tough. There will be a lot of change, I know that for a fact," said Bears wide receiver Devin Hester. "We're not blind, everybody sees it. There will be new players and some other things will change around here, too."
"Pretty much everyone is on the hot seat. The players and the coaches. It is what is but we're all men and get paid to do specific things and I don't think it's the coach's fault. They've definitely put us in a position to win a game. I can't really speak for the offense," said Defensive tackle Anthony Adams.
And it's the offense, specifically Offensive Coordinator Ron Turner, where most think the change will happen. So would Jay Cutler offer the Bears his opinion on Turner?
"Absolutely I would tell them how I feel but by no means will I march up there and tell them what should happen or what is going to happen," Cutler said. "That is up to them and they'll all do the best thing for the team."
"That's not up to Jay and he shouldn't be put in that position," said Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner. "Jay and I have a great relationship. We communicate, we work together. I have confidence in him. Hopefully he has confidence in me."
Turner didn't exactly get a huge vote of confidence from Cutler, but if there is change, it would be Cutler's fourth offensive coordinator in four years.
Is that going to help him? Who knows, but we do know that Bears fans can tolerate this much longer.
