Lets get some support for the Oilers over here! I'll admit, Im from Nova Scotia, but still, they are only Canadian team left in the fight for the cup!
Lets even get a breakdown on how much Canadians contribute to the sport here shall we?
- 11 out of 25 players on the Carolina Hurricanes team are Canadian born.
- Canadians actually invented the sport. (In Nova Scotia no less!)
- Canadians outnumber Americans roughly 3 to 1 in the NHL.
- Canada has a total of 574,125 registered hockey players in their country (thats about 1.75% of their population! U.S. only has 0.16%)
- Canada has 3,350 indoor hockey rinks within her borders.
And this is just a few. So lets hear it for the country that gave birth to and raised the greatest sport in the world!
