  • Bernard Hopkins Vs. Antonio Tarver

Man, I tried to get decent tickets for this. But tickets are now in the $750 range per piece! I can watch it on pay per view for $49.95, which I will.
Hopkins is the revolutionary fighter of our time. Unarguably, one of the best pound for pound fighters boxing today. He's defeated some of the best in the business. Even his losses were controversial (Roy Jones was controversial. I still say Hopkings pulled it out. His 2 losses to Jermain Taylor were also VERY controversial in the judging). But no doubt, like a fine wine, Bernard gets better with age. And Hopkins was born on the mean streets of Philly, and had a stint in Gratersford prison. Gratersford prison is a few minutes from my house. It's no country club prison like the County lock up. You're in there with murderers, rapists, and everyone else. Hopkins has the no mercy mentality.
Now, you take "Hollywood" Tarver. He hasn't really fought anyone great yet. He's made a name for himself by defeating an aged Roy Jones. He lost to Glen Johnson. And that's about it. By far, he's not even on the same talent chart as Hopkins. Some wonder if he's even ready for this fight. You know, filming Rocky 6 and stuff. Even if he was ready, can he stop Hopkins relentless assault? Probably not. Has he faced anyone with punching power like Hopkins? I say no to that too. Tarver is in for a rude awakening when he gets hit with the first clear punch from Hopkins. It will be a pain Tarver hasn't felt before.
I say Tarver tries to come out quick, but gets knocked back a few times. Once he feels Hopkins power, he will begin to respect Hopkins and lay off. Once he does that, Bernard will come in with his fierce trademark body shots (like he did with De La Hoya) and KO Tarver in the middle rounds. I say it ends in a KO victory for Hopkins, knocking out Tarver in the 8th round.

I can't really say Tarver is a solid fighter. He's a good fighter, but he's not a great fighter. He's faced some really aged guys in his short career. Roy Jones (who beat him once , Glen Johnson (Tarver lost by split decision), Eric harding (Who Tarver lost to). the only good fighter he beat was Montell Griffin. Other than that, he's a paper champion. I really think he's way over his head going against Hopkins.
